Andrew Lagno Yeah... It had so much potential but ended in a shitstorm. It went from fighting god-like beings in mechs to Shinji talking to screen on text. It was so bad they had to redo the whole ending and it still didn't make any semblance of sense. They even made a movie to try to get away from both horrible endings and can't figure out how to fix the black abyss of characterless bitchness that is Shinji.

Luca Pirilli I suppose the animation was very nice. I just wish there was a sense of closure by the end of it, it just seemed like the apocalypse happened and for whatever reason Asuka and Shinji are left behind. Or some kind of redemption for Shinji, because he's one of the (if not THE) most hated protagonists of all time.

Its moral, ideology and religious heavy symbolism and metaphors make it the anime version of Nier Automata. It will fuck you up if you really dig deep into what's happening.
