This and Word Processor of the Gods. Although they'd probably screw that one up somehow ("Smartphone of the Gods" or something lame)
@SpaghettiYOLOKingАй бұрын
@Blackhoodie85 Word Processor of the Gods could easily just be a period piece in the 80s. Problem is adapting that to a 90 minute film. Sure, the amount of changes the word processor could make could be increased, but that would make the protagonist seem a bit cold or stupid to not think of his final two changes until after many frivolous changes. The short story had 5 changes that he put in, with the fifth change looking uncertain as the machine was on its last legs at that point. Or they could keep the same amount of changes and just really flesh out what happens between each input or flesh out the backstories. That would probably be the better way of going about it. That collection has so many good stories. Beachworld, Mrs. Todd's Shortcut, Gramma, The Man Who Would Not Shake Hands, Nona, The Reaper's Image, The Jaunt. All of these could be made into a film with the right care made to the screenplay and right director.

When I was a kid, there was a Goodwill across the street that I'd peruse occasionally. One afternoon I came home with a book of short stories called Skeleton Crew by Stephen King (as I'm sure you know). Being in elementary school, I'm pretty sure the toy monkey on the cover is what got my attention. When I returned home and happily showed my parents, they not so happily told me that I was not allowed to read the book and to put it outside. Not outside in the trash, mind you, just outside of the front door. I'm still confused by that, but my parents did a lot of nonsensical things, like being Jehovah's Witnesses. Hence, me not being allowed to read it. :) Well, not until a few years later when they didn't know about it.
@tubebubereboot68733 ай бұрын
I can explain that one. JW's believe that items can be possessed by demons, and keeping them in your home invites them to torment the owners. Stephen King's books are a popular source of these stories they tell each other. If you want to look for examples of these urban legends, one particularly famous one involves a Smurf doll coming to life in the middle of one of their meetings and walking down the isle towards the pulpit. It's almost always goofy stuff like that.
@AuntieClimactic3 ай бұрын
@@tubebubereboot6873 And yet my dad still loved second hand stores. He didn't buy into all of that stuff nearly as much as my mom did, who was hesitant to accept clothes from non-JW relatives. I had a blast every time that I saw this movie with my friend back in late 90s and early 2000s. It became a sort of ritual. I recently rewatched it stoned and it was even better. Trashy campy straight to VHS stuff that has a bright spot in my underground collection.

So glad this is based off a short story published 16 years before that movie came out.

The Monkey from Toy Story 3. I love how director Osgood Perkins did Nicolas Cage in Longlegs from NEON. Stephen King was great author of the horror. James Wan do Saw Insidious M3gan and Night Swim. I can't wait to see it coming next year!

Great trailer! Told me absolutely nothing about the story other than to show me what it’s visually going to be like and how violent.

I do not really like Longlegs but I’ll always support this director bc his first movie was an masterpiece. Seeing his extreme cold and rarefied style meet horror comedy was really interesting. Has always mise en scène and photography are MAGISTRAL ! Definitely wanna see it !
