I think it would be neat to see a Dice Tower video series where every five years or so, you look at all of one designer’s games in that time span and tell us which are your favourites and ranking them against each other. In Phil Walker Harding’s case, he’s made a ton of games just in the last few years. Some of them are unique, but some of them seem to really borrow a lot from the others and it gets tough to figure out which ones rise to the top.

Comparing this with Metropolys from Seb Pauchon... I think I prefer the old and known game. Thinking about two games are about placing buildings for winning areas.

The box cover art made me expect something more substantial gameplay with more tactile components. Nothing against the game, but this is just my expectation as a potential buyer.

I was wondering the other day why the don't make standees like that often. I tend to agree (match tastes) with Mike and disagree with Chris, so I think I would not like it much.

Meh? Had much higher expectations, seems a bit too fancy for the game it is? Skyscrapers and utilities could have been chips, also much more readable than everything being vertical

Looks way cooler and like a real city with the towers. They also need to have a USP.

Very basic artwork, one step up from placeholders. I thought that sports-center/park icon was a guy running away from an explosion. My son would likely have a more flatulent interpretation. Guess they ran out of money or time.

@@sm5574 okay, thanks for the clarification. Then I will rephrase again too and state that I think they wanted to give it a clean look and not a cluttered, distracting one full of too many details. Think Santorini. It could have had illustrations on the green spaces as well, but it doesn't, because it's a clean abstract - think modern chess. It's the same as here. That's my reasoning I guess.

Also surprisingly unreadable- the board clutter on this seems insane with the towers obfuscating everything. I would probably pick this up if it were one city built by all the players, and the components were just tiles and maybe something like wooden disks to differentiate the players' buildings. As is, seems like a very dry, themeless euro. I can see why Mike and Zee weren't into it.

@@StyxTBuferd it's a family game first and foremost. It doesn't want to be a diehard, heavy Euro in the Kennerspiel segment or - god forbid - above. Also the towers are no problem, as your grid is only 4x4. You can't place 10+ towers and if you do, you'll lose anyway. So both counterarguments are weak imho. PS @CT Visions: how is this overproduced? It's a bunch of cardboard in a fairly regular-sized box. It doesn't even have minis or other bling.
