The age of these neps must be at least 8-10 years. Their pitchers, leaves and stems look so massive.

Neps can live for more than 100 years, I guess it could be way older since it look tottally mature

Carnivorous plants usually grow in low nutrient soil conditions but the soil here looks rich in loam from all the plant life around them that must be decaying. Why do these grow here?

its actually not loamy at all. there may be a very fine superficial layer of leaf litter on top but it dissolves away very rapidly in the frequent rain. the ground there is clay based which is why just down the hill its slipping away.

Nepenthes Rajah also grows in more nutrient-dense soil than most other Nepenthes from what I remember reading

I've been told that this was destroyed in the 2015 earthquake or at least no longer accessible =(the land was beginning to slip at the bottom of the hill and I worry the creek nearby may have turned to a raging river in the flooding as well.

not sure but those specs should all be in wikipedia. it was cool when i was there but not cold. villosa habitat on kinabalu was freezing though.
