In part 1, we escape the clutches of the cold Melbourne winter and start our journey North. Even though it is the most boring part of our whole trip, we still manage to have some fun and see some sights along the way.

I've been to Broken Hill, but didn't remember the railway. I see BHP news often enough, but didn't realize it stood for Broken Hill Proprietary Ltd. The rail map says the line is used for passengers, but then it also shows an operator going to the tip of Cape York on water.

Having just returned from this area, I thought I'd better open the tab I've had sitting here for a long time and finally watch the series! A dose of Covid has helped give me the time as well! A lot of the roadhouses out there are still closed, just electronic fuel options, no food. The Line Of Lode lookout is well worth the stop, it was windy as when I was there, 135 years of mining so far (world's longest continuously running mine) with approximately 80 years left in it! That place for sale in Silverton is a cafe now. I liked Silverton, found it fascinating. I went through the Mad Max museum, there was a LOT in there! I had to stop at the famous pub for lunch too. I was looking for a SAS sticker on that South Australia sign at Cockburn (Yes, I had a giggle at the name too) but didn't see one. There's now a MrAus sticker on it though. 🤣 Great stuff mate, I enjoyed that! Glad I watched it after being there!

those poor wR250'S are still rolling..........LoLz. My uncle was in the Variety bash this year, and they had a 1500km detour to get round the wet roads......... I was fox shooting in the Mallee this winter, and it was super green, great times. The line of load reserve in Broken Hill , is part of the old MMM (triple M) mine, I was in there in the 1990's when they scrapped its buildings. Pulled out a 35 ton ball mill on a road train for Newcastle. there was a massacre at Silverton during WW1, two turks opened fire on the picnic races. A posse hunted them down, and shot them dead.

Shame you didn't let your tyres down a bit more, and you may have noticed a big difference traction, That would have been good comparison, Maybe if all else fails. Great hill 👏 climb but..
@Nerb1
@Nerb1 10 ай бұрын
I think this comment was for the other video? Although it does give you more traction, that hill climb was only 1km long in a full day of riding. It really isnt worth letting the tyres down only to pump them up again 1km later.

You went to Mundi Mundi lookout, but the famous MM crash corner is a little further out west about 500m.. Plus had you gone past that to the reservoir there is a little lookout there that you can see the white tents of the preproduction of MM5. Also, the MadMax museum wont let you video or take photos in the first room.. But its a big shame you got there on Monday when they are closed. I did the same to the Bathurst track museum thats only closed on Tuesdays, the day I was there. I was in Broken hill mid May 2022 which was about my 10th time to BH.. Love going there..
