In this part, after watching a bit of the finke desert race, we head into Alice Springs before going to Uluru, the biggest rock in the world... even bigger than Milmed rock! (if you get that reference in the first 24 hours of this being uploaded, email me for a free sticker!).
The original plan was to go straight from Finke to Uluru, but Silas had some leaky fork seals, to we did the extra to get them repaired in Alice.
Thanks to Motoz for supplying the team with tyres, Giant Loop for a discount on bladders and Zarkie for my fancy new jacket!
Thanks for watching. Make sure you subscribe and watch ALL of my videos so that I dont need to answer the same questions every week!

Another great adventure. As an American, I’ve been fortunate to see Uluru 3 times in person. Once on a road bike trip from Sydney 30+ years ago (even ‘climbed’ it then as was common, 1989). Everyone should if possible - certainly Australians.

Yeah, I wish I had seen it earlier before climbing was closed. I disagree with closing off nature to walkers (vehicles I understand). Especially for religious reasons. And even more especially for financial reasons (like Australias snow fields).

It is amazing that in such a big country you bump into like mined people, at the OCR2022 at Adel's Grove QLD I met Simon Pavey, and Steve from Mongrel Dog Productions. Been home for a week now and need another ride....so great to do big trips on a motorcycle to reset the mind. 15.50 is definitely a wall poster moment.

Yeah, it is amazing, but I guess there is a limited number of us type of adventurers and there is set times of year that are most popular.... so the odds go up. 13:50 i assume you meant ;)

Lived at Uluru for a couple of years back in the early 90's and once climbed the rock at 4am in the dark so I could watch the full moon set over the Olgas and the sun rise over MT Conner. Magical stuff.

From 'the nugget' sighting to the big impressive uluru nugget. Love the excitement , it's kinda shocking when you see it from a distance but them it's even more impressive as you get closer. Not sure why when it's just a rock.....Cheers 4 sharing sir. You reference to the big desert has me stumped though haha

Brilliant views of the Rock, don't normally get to see it from those sides. What a trip, looking forward to seeing the rest. T7 sounds like the bike for the job. Don't know if I'd push the DR that hard, I know they are tough and the engine might last, but some other bits might fall off (both me and the bike, probably)!

Great vid and edit Nerb! I’m very jealous that you had a full moon at Uluru! It is truly awe inspiring when you actually see the ‘rock’ for the first time! BTW, my 790R was running worst at 5.2L per 100kms at 125 - 130kph in the NT… Are you brakes dragging 🤓
@Nerb1
@Nerb1 Жыл бұрын
Your 790 must be lean! Ha. Id guess the additional horses mean its not working as hard at high speeds.
@alphonsvanmaanen
@alphonsvanmaanen Жыл бұрын
@@Nerb1 Nah, bike is definitely not running lean… I might be a little more aerodynamic perhaps… No cameras, lower (old man’s) BMI? I do have a bit of luggage on board though :) Looking forward to next episodes 👍👍

 I reckon your indicated speed is out. Just like Nerb's. 142 km/hr indicated is 130 km/hr true GPS. Drag goes up with velocity squared.

@@raptorthumper12 Yeah, yeah… I know. My speed is per GPS not the dash / speedo. I’ve been around a while. 👍 Plus I’m running F15 - R46 gearing! 30K km valve check today… All in spec and internals look like new! 790R(ules) 😅
