You are correct, in that you don't get to choose your difficulty. You "Unlock" Easy mode by dying a couple times. (Or maybe once). You start on Normal. You are also correct in your Resident Evil 4 mention, because Devil May Cry 1 was originally going to BE Resident Evil 4. And after a while they realised they'd made a game that was way too different. So they rebranded it and switched some stuff and now we have DMC. One small tip also, if you Aim and Shoot, but then hold the buttons down, after a few seconds you get to charge up an energy shot. :D

I loved the combat in the reboot, it was the way that they changed Dante into a standard moody black-haired duck that pissed me and almost everyone else off. He is an overpowered half-demon badass who has killed just about everything in hell while cracking jokes and eating pizza. Not a character from Twilight.

I'll tell you what I miss about the PS2 era: you know, on top of the camera angles, you used to be able to walk around and press "X" on everything, and you'd get a textual description. Words cannot describe how much depth this adds to the enviroments. It can also build character(Think Silent Hill 3) without feeling contrived or forced like all of the overly talkative main characters of the modern era. And I think that because it's optional, you feel like you have more ownership over it.

To be fair, it's design isn't as creepy as some. For example the legs are rather short and fat, and it being made of rock and lava instead of carapace and fine hairs probably also helps. It's not _really_ that much of a spider, certainly not compared to the giant spiders in something like Earth Defense Force. *Flashbacks to the EDF livestream*

Solid port. But it needs some work. There's some issues with looping audio not playing correctly and some sounds being the wrong pitch. Also they forgot to set a manual 60fps lock so if you play with vsync off the game plays at super speed.

No, the game's speed, among other things, is likely directly tied to framerate at which the game runs. So let's say the game speed is normal running at 60fps but then your potato-powered toaster hiccups and the framerate drops to 30fps. Now you're playing the game at half speed. If it's running at 120fps, suddenly it's moving twice as fast. In other words, you really do want a stable framerate capped at 60fps for this game. While Turbo Mode is an actual feature in versions of Devil May Cry 3 and 4, that's never been the case for DMC1 and is unrelated the framerate issue I mentioned.

DMC 4 was pretty good, biggest problem being that you don't play as dante for about half of the game, kinda like raiden in MGS 2. The other character had a demon arm though, which was cool.

Nero is the main main character character of DMC 5 in 2019, but you do play as Dante and a character called Vitale in their own stories.

I didn't mind that you get to play as Nero. The problem was that the game was poorly structured. Play as Nero for half of the game then play the levels and bosses in reverse with Dante, then play as Nero for the end. When I saw that you get to play as Dante, I expected to play new levels. And fuck the board games.

Not once in my life have I touched a Devil May Cry game, yet I have seen the trailers or teasers for #1 and #3 on the PS2 demo disc that I had many years ago, and watching this just triggers some deep nostalgia from within. From what I've read on the steam forums in-game graphics settings only allows up to 1080p. That said, many users have had luck setting higher resolutions, including 4k, by editing the game's config.

I feel this game has the best music of the series. DMC2 probably has the best/most badass design for Dante. DMC3 tends to be recognized for its story (and gameplay). DMC4, although hated by some for its repetitiveness and Nero, is usually praised for its combat. And then DmC... Well, it's got good combat too, but that's about it..

This was unplayable for me. My frame-rate chugged so hard. It would frequently drop to about 10fps. I have a PC that should be able to do this in it's sleep. Cutscenes would also fall wildly out of sync with the sound. They need to patch this thing.
