On the subject of Sonic racing games, I'm fully aware I'm likely to be set upon by everyone including the little angel and devil hedgehogs on my shoulders, but one of my all time favorite sonic games - as a nineteen year old who played it as a kid *and* has since looked at it more analytically - is Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity. Such a cliche plot, but that's par for the course for modern sonic games and it was a solid arcade racer with a story that at least managed not to contradict itself.

I remember playing this game as kid (I'm currently 17). I loved this game but I never was able to finish it because I couldn't play it for long. I could only play it for about ten minutes at a time because the graphics would make me very nauseous, dizzy and headache-y. But, I guess it's been a really long time because I thought that the graphics were pretty cool back then. :P

The reason Sonic was faster than the others is because they all had different abilities. if I recall correctly, Knuckles could do his gliding jump for long jumps. Tails could use his flying to boost himself higher or fly a few feet into the sky, Eggman could fly over water without being slown down and Amys car turned into a boat whenever on water. Amy was extremely slow, basically useless competitively, knuckles was overpowered because his glide actually made him faster than Sonic and could be used to skip entire portions of levels.

To be fair...I think a Sonic racing game would be a neat idea. And when I say that, I mean no hoverboards, no cars, just the speed of the character running/flying. Long, detailed courses, gameplay controls like Sonic Colors/Generations, racing the kinda like how it was in a Sonic Heroes versus mode.
