I haven't played the game but I think he was missing something with the black and white door? Like I think you have to separate *all* the blacks from *all* the whites and he was just separating the small groups of them, leaving both black and white in the same section when you look at the whole picture. I think?
@xRawrBawr
@xRawrBawr 8 жыл бұрын
+Emily Stell you're right. you have to completely separate all dots; effectively putting all white dots on the left of the drawn path and all black dots on the right, or visa-versa.

The point of the "turn off the puzzle and make you go back and resolve the previous one" mechanic is to give you a push in the direction of "don't just guess, work it out, silly player." It's (almost) only used in areas where brute-force is an option.

Exactly. And the ones that are purely just there for tutorial purposes aren't connected to anything else. That's how you know there's no point to solving them.

+Louie Salmon the difference between this game and other puzzle games is that these puzzles aren't usually posed as a one-time challenge, each puzzle is meant for learning. i feel like this is actually a good step for puzzle games because the designer can make more "difficult"; puzzles while also making them easier for the player to solve, all without changing the puzzle in question in the slightest dan's idea that the game should just *give* him the rules is entirely contrary to how this game works, in like, every way, and there wouldn't be such a range of puzzles if it had to make the rules clear each time I don't think better to trust that the player is smart and give them enough to clearly grasp the rules on their own. this is not fast, and it requires time and engagement, and I'm not sure dan will ever really be engaged since he wasn't quite sold on the concept to begin with I don't think...

Tbh, I stopped about halfway through. He DIDN'T complete the black and white tutorial, then doesn't understand why he can't do one of the puzzles. His complaints about the jump button and invisible walls are to me, invalid. Because a lot of the game is appreciation of the world (it does some fucking incredible work with imagery and perspective) and given a jump button, every player would skyrim there way up the wrong side of the mountain and ruin the imagery. Normally I am in agreement with Dan, but in this case it pisses me off so much that I had to watch DayNine play it to calm down.

+ordessasam People wouldn't be able to Skyrim everything if they just made the terrain slippery. Loads of games have found good alternatives to invisible walls, and this game was unnecessarily excessive with them. AvalancheofNeed I noticed it by accident. I just got to the area and the one that's half coverd reflected the sun and I saw the smudge. It seems like it's pretty hard not to notice. But I get stuck on the simplest parts sometimes so I get it
@wedmunds
@wedmunds 8 жыл бұрын
+Said Garcia I agree that Blow should have made the intro to the hexagon area more obvious. For example, they can force the player to walk through a zigzag fence passway and they would notice the solar glare multiple times as they approach the puzzle, which would probably send them backwards to learn the mechanic fully.

This video was so painful to watch... Tutorial sections aren't connected to anything, so you don't really need to do them. If it's connected to something, you NEED to solve it! Personally, I think the puzzles are super hard, but entirely fair. If it has things you've seen, then you should be able to solve it; if not, then there is absolutely an area that walks you through the rules.
@avypath
@avypath 8 жыл бұрын
Also, there is no such thing as an impossible/unsolvable puzzle in this game. EVERY puzzle has a solution. Even the puzzles that he expects almost nobody to solve do have solutions; they're just really complicated.

+Steamy Wonder Is it more noticeable among Brits or is it just certain people? Maybe because of their particular eyesight or something. I've never had a problem with fov or any other screen setting. Same goes for bad fps. In fact, I don't personally know anyone IRL that does have a problem with it.

+Steamy Wonder I'm actually pretty certain that it's a nocebo (opposite of a placebo) that has spread very far due to the internet. I'm sure some people do get motion sick from videogames, but I have a harder time believing that so many people have it due to low FOV. Don't misunderstand me though, just because it's a nocebo doesn't mean the effects aren't real; people do feel sick from nocebo effects just as much as someone who is medically sick.

I heard about this game around the same time Firewatch came out. I didn't know which to get, so I chose Firewatch. It's a fantastic little game. I would recommend

Yeah the game can be confusing, but if you just experiment for more than 5 seconds you might actually figure stuff out.

I'm through more than half the game already and the puzzles are indeed really challenging. The game is meant to have almost no story or tutorial, the point being "are you smart enough to solve it?" And it kinda taught me that in games nowadays we are considered some dumb fucks that someone must tell at all times what to do.

A bit like Dream. Its starts nice and good looking and athmospheric to then become an endless collection of logic puzzles.

This game looks fucking amazing, I didn't even realise the video was playing at 360p. Then looking at 720p wow. It even looks good along with youtube compression.

Dan! on the one on the door, you didn't separated all of the black and the wait. Just because It's not adjacent doesn't mean it doesn't have to be separated.

Proud Republican. Im not one for taking away peoples rights, taxing outrageously, helping people who wont help themselves or pretending to care about people just for votes. Granted though a lot of republicans are pretty screwed up and have lost sight of whats important.
