I made a Lizarfolk Fighter (champion) with Entertainer (Gladiator variant) and a Trident. I call it the "GladiGator" Also Lizardfolk Barbarian (totem) of Eagle, Duck (for the acid resist), Wolf to make a Alligator Spirit. You could switch the LV6 Duck for Wolf if you think it is redundant.

Let's see... Baeshra, my Lizardfolk Moon Druid. I played all the way though the Tyranny of Dragon campaign. He had a preference for wild-shaping into dinosaurs Uxarix, my Kobold Paladin of Bahamut. His Kobold clan are worshippers of Bahamut. Many of his clan act as guides aiding those who become lost in the Underdark, and battle against the less pleasant residents of the World Below. Uxarix himself has come to the surface, aiding those who are in need. I also found that a Dexterity-based Paladin (Rapier for weapon, and wearing Medium armor) works very well.

Mechanically at level 7 your yuan-ti oath of the ancients paladin: applies cha bonus to all saves, has spell resistance (advantage on saves), and resistance to spell damage. My favorite re-skin is they are descended from a guardian naga or cuatl rather than being the token good Yuan-ti.

Kobolds canonicaly are good at making trpas so artificer cpuld be cool. Also, they are really religious, even if they don't pray to worship. To worship, they work as hard as they can so cleric and paladin are fitting. Lastly, they robe sometimes close villages so rogue could fitt too.

I have two characters that were touched on here, and their other connection is natural armour. First is a lizardfolk (circle of the moon) Druid with a single level dip into life cleric for the bonus to healing spells (works great on goodberry and healing spirit) and natural armour means I don't have to worry about the druid armour restrictions. I played him being more shamanistic. Second is Salassi the dragonblood sorceress, with natural armour to balance the lack of armour. Very charming, but in the way the media portrays snakes as being hypnotic.

You think it's worth giving up the level 20 ability for a moon druid or are you just counting on never getting to level 20?

@@Person01234 Either way the answer is yes. Let's face it, most campaigns don't end up hitting 20th, and even if they do that's usually the endgame. Archdruid is a Great endcap ability, but how long are you going to have to use it before the story comes to and end? I would trade having increased healing abilities from level 2 or 3 for that any day, just because that increased healing is going to be relevant and useful for the entire campaign. Admittedly if you're starting in the high teens I might reconsider, but most campaigns you're going to get a lot more mileage out of the dip.

Speaking of Lizardfolk worshipping a Black Dragon there's a tribe mentioned in 3.5 called Poison Dusk that do in fact do that. In fact they are one of three tribes unified under that dragon.

I'm playing a LizardMan Samurai named Kurtz Zyrtec. I'm having so much fun. I'm constantly giving myself advantage and getting temp hp, plus I throw in the bonus bite attack. I'm a shield and spear fighter so I'm more a Spartan/Zulu warrior but the mechanics are a ton of fun. As far as best class for a lizard dude. The con and Wis bump make cleric, ranger, druid or monk pretty viable. It's all about what you want to play though.

The Nerdarchy Channel is very informative to someone new to D&D like myself. The only issue I have with Yuan-Ti- Pure blood's is the poison immunity. The design behind the race is flawed on that one key aspect. Snakes are venomous, not poisonous. In a reality aspect, no snake is immune to poison. For example, a rodent eats rat poison, then a snake eats that rat... It is fatal to both species. Venom has to be injected via bloodstream, poison can be digested to inflict damage. It is proven that venom can actually be drank as long as there are no possibilities for venom to enter the blood stream. Hope this information helps, cause I see many people refer to them as the same. Got to up the game for my fellow Yaunti! Haha.

Missed one of the strongest options a kobold moon druid. The stats don't do much for you but given your wild shapes keep your race and class features but adopt the senses of your new form. So you get cool new senses and drop sunlight sensitivity while giving pack tactics to every form you assume. That's nuts on some of those hard hitting multiattackers. Plus I love the idea of a cocky spunky kobold talking big and being able to back it up by shifting into a big dino.

Two classes not mentioned for kobolds. A kobold druid of the moon circle wear you would wild shape and get pack tactics while being a bear or many multiple attack beasts. Or why not a a gloom stalker ranger for it? It would be thematic since kobolds have sunlight sensativity. For Lizard fold, why not a monk? There are characteristics overlapping, but still.

I had an idea for a Lizardfolk Warlock. She made a pact with a Fiend in order to save her tribe from an ecological disaster. Obviously, her tribe didn't respond well to her trying to barter away their souls, so she was cast out (leading to her becoming an adventurer). Her name means "Slave" in the dragon language.

I'd say bottom of the food chain is a toss up between Kobolds and Goblins. A Kobold clan does have a stronger sense of loyalty to each other than a goblin tribe does, after all, and Goblins I've found notorious for betraying each other to save their own hides. I think the greatest disloyalty I've ever seen in approved canon for Kobolds is one offering his sister in marriage in exchange for sparing the lives of his clan. On the flipside Goblins are often much more tricky and particularly deadly with their fondness of using traps and ambushes.

For Adventures League I play Sss’Zhoul a Yuan-ti wizard Enchanter that has one level of Warlock of Pact of the Great Old One. His Patron is the Yuan-ti god Sseth who has gifted him with awakened mind. He is also a member of “The Coiled Cabal” and is currently in Water Deep working on creating a new Mage Guild as mean to set up a base of operations in the city for his Yuan-ti faction 🐍🐍💯

I once played a lizard folk cleric that decided that moridin was better than the lizard gods and creates armor and weapons out of the bones and skin of defeated enemies and my GM was nice enough to allow for the creation of heavy armor through this method and it was a really coll character although I'd advise you read up on lizard folk lore especially what they don't tell you in the players handbook if your looking to play such a character

I'm late to the party by a wide margin, but... My characters are always lizardmen / lizardfolk. My go-to class is Monk. Pathfinder 1e has them as Unchained Monk. Charisma is always the dump stat, leaving it open to manipulation on the diplomatic front. Other classes that I dabbled in: Poison Dusk Lizardfolk Rogue (3.5e MM 3), Lizard Wizard (2e, converted to 3.5e down the line), Lizard Warlock, Lizard Druid, Lizard Kundhala, and Lizard Cleric of Sobek (Dinosaur transformations FTW)

I made a Lizardfolk Oath of Vengeance Paladin. Polearm master with a spear, and I rolled surprisingly well for a MAD class so my AC is an 18 with no armor and a shield, I get a +3 to all my saving throws, AND I'm getting awesome stealth bonuses with that proficiency. Stealthadin here I come!!

I totally think the lizardman would be great as a monk. Alittle extra hit points and the wisdom helps. Also yaun-ti love for days. Still love my shadow monk/illusionist yaun-ti character. My first 5e character. Wanna play a yaun-ti hexblade warlock pack of the blade/conquer paladin think that would be an awesome mix character. No need for that high strength when you can use your charisma for your damage/hit bonus with weapons instead. But what do you guys think?

I like using lizard folk with the rogue scout subclass. Get mobility and athlete feat, dash as a bonus action ignoring difficult terrain. Walk and swim speed 30 at lvl 1, 40 when mobility is chosen, gain climb speed with feat. Gets to 50 walk,climb, and swim at 9th lvl. Reaction to move almost as far as most creatures can move normally. Guerrilla fighter in all environments, can make armor and weapon for self and allies. Perhaps 1 level dip in cleric for shaman theme, bunch of rituals.

In 4th ed I played a kobold warlock that was a chef, obsessed with scavenging from anything the party killed. I want to play a sun worshipping snake man. Be yuan-ti sorcerer, favored soul; focus on fire and radiant or light based spells. Hide that he is a snake from the party as long as I can just for funs.

Kobold Chainlock of the Fiend. He holds his hands up to his face for Burning Hands, so he can pretend to be a dragon. Also, at the minimum for small size, he's two feet tall and twenty-five pounds, with his imp familiar at two feet tall and eight pounds. They walk around talking to each other at roughly the same size and almost identical stats.

Well if you go purely by their stats you've got kobold rogue, lizardfolk druid, and yuan-ti Sorcerer or wizard. However, no matter what class they play, the reptiles should have access to fire magic if they want to be adventurers...cause being cold blooded would suck in real life. That's why most reptiles on the planet have to spend several hours just stretched out in the sun, just so the can absorb enough heat to move and hunt efficiently. So, a reptile without fire magic would not only have to spend several hours a day sunning himself, but he'd also have to sleep 8 hours at night. ofcourse that's not a mechanic in the game, it's just something i'd be thinking about if I were cold blooded and wanted to go an adventure.

kobolds are actually like goblins in the sense that they can be persuaded to the side of good except kobolds are much more likely to be persuaded assuming they don't have a dragon to worship and they are settling beneath a town kobolds could be hired to dig sewer systems and other under ground structures due to them being natural diggers even more so then gobins so I tend to allow a modified kobold race in my D&D sessions

Currently playing as a Yuan-Ti Paladin of Vengeance - at Level 6, got 16 strength, Charisma, 14 Constitution, 12 Wisdom, 11 Intelligence (or did I swap them around?), and 8 Dexterity. Basically, before I joined, the group, who I played with, but only recently resumed playing, until it got halted again, consisted of a Fire Genasi Wizard, Water Genasi Storm Sorcerer, and a dex-based Arakocra Life Domain Cleric. Thus, the group needed some sort of tank, and I had wanted to play as a Paladin, specifically a Yuan-Ti because they looked so cool - it was allowed, although, due to the way the setting is, (Giants beat dragons during a past war, and reptilians are seen as lesser) I had to pick a Criminal background - so I'm a conniving liar! Lol! I also got my mother to play - (she's a tabaxi monk in another campaign - loves being the crazy cat lady) - and she's a Feral Tiefling Hunter Ranger with a Folk Hero background. General idea, is that me and her were in a town that the party was in, and they needed some extra help to clear out some undead near this tomb they'd been looking to investigate, with us looking for work. Wanted her to be a satyr, but goatmen don't fit a desert-based setting. Still, it's useful to have her if a back-up back-up tank is needed, due to her hp - a Mountain Dwarf Moon Druid joined us soon after, and thus is the back-up tank.

Goofy Dragon Armour features don’t stack. You use the highest. In this case the 10+dex+con of the barb or the 13+dex of the lizardfolk

For example most humanoids have a natural armor of 10+dex the lizardfolk has 13+dex so I think it makes sense that a barbarian lizardfolk should get its natural armor of 13+Dex + it's barbarian class modifier of con
