To be fair, episodic content isn't necessarily bad, so long as it's free. Yes, it's an excuse to have an incomplete story on launch, but I wouldn't say that that counts as one of the MANY things dragging this game down...

+LazahNinja The major problem for me with episodic releases is the destruction of hype/interest over time. It's like "Hey! We got this new Hitman game!" and I'm like "Yeah! It doesn't look awful! When can I play it?", "It's releasing soon!", "Yeah? Sweet!", "Episode 1, that is.", "Oh... Well I'll just wait until the game is complete then". But as time goes on the game stops being new and hype dies down. Then by the time the game is complete it feels like you're looking at last year's game but for the price of a new release and it just feels bad. Plus, many people have already played it by the time it's complete, they've found out the secrets and techniques, gotten tired of talking about it and the community just isn't the same as the community for a new game anymore.
