Pinning a post about thermals, as there are so many engaged commenters. The airflow is unobstructed, but if it becomes a problem we'll just pop it off. This is just attached to the faceplates, it can be swapped out at any moment :) Maybe don't do the same thing unless you don't know what you're doing. Insulating your PS5 is not recommended.

As I watch more of your videos, one of the things I really like about them is the way you make it clear that these projects take *time*. I feel like a lot of hobby crafter types struggle with that - the world feels like everything should happen quick, and building something yourself just isn't. Having channels like this that show how long tasks can take even for skilled people helps set more reasonable expectations, I think.

Once again a really neat idea. The cooling lava with the black crackle patches looks fantastic. I like the main lava flow, but to my mind it's too yellow, I would think a more orange look would fit lava better. One thing I wonder about is why the lava is not programmed to appear like it's flowing. Not much of a programmer but if there are a lot of LEDs in there and they are addressable, perhaps a randomizing sub routine could be incorporated into the Arduino program? All in all, it's awesome!
@MaxRide1

I know they said lava but to me it (and possibly inspired by the dwarves from Tolkein) looks like molten metal rather than molten rock; molten metal (steel/iron) goes to a white-yellow especially when poured like in this build, to then be used for casting - if you want to see; alec steele went to an ironworks recently and filmed it; it shows iron being forged into hot rolled steel and does look a LOT like the 'lava' flowing in this dwarven build. Do something like this with a water-cooled PC, and route the water to a small recirculating waterfall on the outside. Could add some of those plastic ice cubes for extra cooling

fun fact, if you add heavy body black paint to plain mod podge, it goes on grey and dries black. white mod podge is usually more avalable in larger quantities and usually a little cheaper, plus you dont have to mix ALL of it so you can make multiple colored base coats for various projects

This makes me think that there must be a huge market out there for 3d console skins. I know I would save up for one.
@mydogeatspuke
@mydogeatspuke Жыл бұрын
They cost roughly at least 3 times as much as the console itself, so not an enormous market, no. They're very niche, although the people who make them (on commission) are usually very talented.

Most of the video was centered on the lava mold and I wasn't sure how well it would turn out, but I was surprised to see the amount of detail added in the latter half during the montage which really brought it together. Like god damn, I wanna know more about the paint drying to get the cracks in the lava/cold spots, or the flame tendrils for the fire pits?!

This looks freakin awesome. You have out done yourselves once again. There is one thing that I'm slightly concerned about is getting the hot air out. I'm sure you took this into account when making this but if the PlayStation starts to slow down or freeze during gameplay there might be an issue with the heat not getting out of the side pop collar vent spaces. I'm pretty sure it's ok but just keep an eye on it.
2 жыл бұрын
I had the same thought. I wonder is there’s space to vent the heat that wasn’t mentioned.

Looks like someone enjoyed seeing the dwarven kingdom in Rings of Power😁 It came out amazing, I love how you added the hints of color where the lava would be casting light, and I’ve never seen anyone do that crackling lava top effect before. Sweet. I saw this cool art piece on Pinterest where someone had this giant, oversized, fantasy looking book and they sculpted a scene from the story (literally from the pages) of a ship about to be capsized by these massive resin waves, that I would love to see you attempt.
