13:05 Dan has a good point. My first trip up an FSR kind of sobered me up about the reality of logging. BC is definity beautiful, so long as it isn't being mismanaged for sure

I literally just bought the last large-sized Kakwa that just cropped up yesterday. And my X-mid pro 2 is in the mail now! I've got a few hundred miles on the DD40, original backpack from Massdrop (RIP). Between that and Dan's 20,000 word blogpost about the mathematics and geometry of the X-mid, I have become a belieber in Dan's stuff.

Dan seems like a really cool guy. I just pre ordered one Kakwa 40L two days ago. According to the website they will start shipping out on July the 22nd.

I didn't even know about this pack until I went to the durston website to check on an order and found out about the release. Although I have a custom LiteAF pack, my girlfriend needed one and she really liked the design. Can't wait to get it this weekend and take it to the mountains. Thanks Dan! Also, cool channel. Subbed for DIY projects

I wish the xmid 2 pro and the xmid 2 had a baby: 50 inches wide, still double walled, but outer made of dyneema. Oh, and a few more pockets and loops. Then we'd have jackpot.

My first real tent was a Wild Country Quasar which was a polyester tent and lasted for years. I have purchased numerous tents over years since (MSR, Mountain Hardwear) and the materials haven't lasted very long at all due to the PU coated nylon fabrics failing due to humidity. I live in Brisbane, Australia which has humidity in summer but its not the tropics so I look forward to purchased another polyester fabric tent.

For me, double wall is the number one consideration.

A Ultra 200 travel duffle or travel pack with some stretch UL internal organization would be amazing! Like a light version of the PD duffle or Arris duffle

I too can't sleep well hiking compared to car camping. My dream hiking sleeping pad would be as comfortable, quiet and warm as the Exped Megamat 10, but packable, under 500 grams, at least 7 cms high but ideally 10 cms and come in a short but wide version (I'm 1.5 m tall but a chronic nocturnal wriggler) with an optional bamboo jersey/merino pillow pocket that clips in place so you don't need to chase your pillow around all night and can be unclipped to wash. If Dan comes up with something close to that, I'll be forced to add it to the rest of my DD collection of the two first gen xmid 1 & 2 and soon to be Kakwa (I don't think I have any chance of getting the xmid pro compared to when I first ordered the original 4 years ago😭)

Thanks for the thoughts! It's a tough one to pull off for sure. For the X-Mid Pro. We have a decent batch still to sell for August and then I think quite good availability starting around January '23 so it shouldn't be too hard to get one.

I cut my sea to summit to fit my height, have a pillow stuff sack and klymit pillow for my knees since I'm a horrible side sleeper. My internal frame is a cut down Nemo Switchback, so technically I have two pads and the R value between the two is something like 5.X+ and is 640g. I know, that's a lot of weight, but I sleep well! I also wear earplugs and this benefits me.

If your dyneema composite becomes abraded and fuzzy, you can actually fill it in with silicone to re-waterproof it. But I agree DCF is not a good fabric for floors etc.
