I mean... so, I do B2B accounts in the hotelier business. I deal with characters all the time that use tactics like that. Fear of loss is the biggest one that's always pulled. "If you don't go with Miramax I'm going to get everyone of those people in my movies." This is fear of loss, or fear of missing out. First off... when he had asked, "Who do you want in this movie." I simply would have said, "Oh, all the big names." Him, "Like who?" Me, "I'm not naming anyone until you buy the script." This is exactly how I handle B2B accounts... I know what people are after, they want a lower rate... they can call around until they get it, but it most likely won't be up to my standards, I wouldn't stay there, to put another way. I won't give it to them, instead I will give them a rate that is priced competently, answer any questions about amenities and additional, and every promise after that is only if they are paying. Money talks, bullshit walks. Hitting them with the brass facts can go one of two ways, the call can end there, or in this scenario, meeting. I could even be griped at or threatened, but what did I just say? "Bullshit walks." I'm only interested in your money, and I'll make that perfectly clear when you make your interests about money apparent. It's "business to business" So if I am competent enough to have producers with me, I'm competent enough not to give out more than I need to. Harvey would probably end it right there, but the satisfying part is he wouldn't know what big names I want for this movie, and all he does know is that there is a lot of interest in my script. This is where I would move to close the deal with literally anyone else. Mostly for their first offer, and if they ask, "did Miramax reject you?", I would answer slyly, "They concluded our meeting, and we haven't came to any agreement." Depending on the climate and how big of a window I have, I might sit on it for a week, but I wouldn't shop around to more than 3 potential buyers, and I wouldn't have more than 2 under the impression negotiations are still open. Here's the thing... Harvey and his kind aren't as smart as they make themselves out to be. They are actually just very dumb people who have a lot of power. What I just told the next interviewer isn't a lie. They can send me out, cuss at me, and it can look and feel like a rejection, but 1. I won't confirm weather it is or isn't. 2. Unless they state explicitly, they can't honestly say they rejected it. 3. Negotiations break down all the time only to be picked up later. By claiming, in a way, that negotiations are still open with Miramax, whoever I am sitting in front of will want to get something signed that day. The reason Miramax would even come up is because corporate executives are in heavy competition, and it's a question they would want to know the answer to, because they most likely already know you went there. Now, the whole trick to this.... you have to be good at selling something. I have friends who can sell a pickup to a liberal, and friends who can sell a snow-cone to the devil. I'm confident I have picked up a thing or two, because I use those things all the time without even trying. So, while his experience sucked, and it can happen to anyone... don't let it happen to you, keep your cards close to your chest.

Actors have lost a whole lot of us who are labeled far right extremists. I checked out in 2014, haven't been to the theater since and may never go back. I'm not alone. However... Suburban moms have kept Disney afloat -- because they don't want to be the mom whose kids don't have Disney Plus. They can't bear the feeling of being the only mom at Jemima's fourth birthday party that they don't agree with Woopie. Suburban dads who aren't secretly suburban women at heart weigh the options: Is telling Disney, et al, where to stick their fists worth the family disaster that will come from it? And they choose to let it go. And... The Peter Pans of the world have kept the comic franchise from drowning. Will they develop more sophisticated tastes? It's anybody's guess how it will all shake out.

If Hollywood thinks they can, call us ists and phobes, for over a decade we will forgive and forget, and go back to supporting their movies, they can think again. I think the only movies, that'll make money are from actors who didn't insult us every chance they got.

If movies like Top Gun Maverick, that showed them what people want, couldn't do it, I don't know what can... Maverick was 2022. The production lines take years and then they decided to have strikes. I feel like the mood had changed - thought Creature Commandos did layer in stuff about incel type militias and shoddy feminism recently (without being something that had been stuck in the development for years). Nothing has been enjoyable. When the strikes occurred, people said "I want a bigger piece of the pie". It seemed like you should make sure there was going to be ANY pie, first. Currently, I have 2 streaming subscriptions - which I keep alive for other people. There's pretty much nothing worth watching. If Hollywood wants to save itself, any time now would be good.

I must say that it’s very nice to actually see everybody’s faces. Having said that, I want to get something off my chest that’s been bugging me for a long time. It’s the hosts who use Avatars. With avatars, I don’t see the human traits that express the sentiments of the spoken words. Hand gestures & eye movement. You know, eyes are truly the window to your soul. Plus, it’s hard to know who’s talking sometimes. With technology today, I would think the hosts who don’t want to show their faces would look into some kind of AI. Additionally, looking at the same photo is boring. It’s like listening to the same commercial over & over again. (I’m looking at you Medicare & pharmaceutical companies!) But Nerd, I love you best when you’re solo. You’re funny, witty, personable and articulated. No “ums” for you! Plus you say “for” instead of “fer”. I am a fan!
