The problem is that she didn't commit what is overtly a crime. His house was listed as the address of his LLC, which is public. What she did is just unethical and dumb, not really illegal. There'd need to be actual action instead of the potential for action for it to be harassment.

And, surprisingly, doxxing someone isn't generally illegal (though, it may qualify for stalking and/or harassment neither of which apply in this case). ""According to the California Penal Code §653.2, cyber harassment refers to posting information online about a person without that person’s consent, with the intent to place the alleged victim in fear for their safety or the safety of someone in their immediate family." The reason I say "she believes" is because it did say it could be a simulated webcam (so a pre recorded video of someone hopefully older) but even if thats the case Sssniperwolf shouldn't have even went along after the other person said they were 16 regardless, and even then it doesn't definitely mean it wasn't a child

The fact that KZbin considers valid criticism of their preferred creators comparable to doxxing speaks volumes. Their official statement is even more galling when you consider that Jack would have never created his parody channel if KZbin had held Sniperwolf accountable for her blatant freebooting and habitual violation of TOS. Instead, KZbin made her a brand ambassador, promoting her on social media and inviting her to speak at creator conferences. Sniperwolf is a bad person, but this entire mess is KZbin's fault.

Take all the creepy stuff you said her followers might do to Jack and apply it to all the creepy followers that wouldn't have any problem just tracking down where she is to do something awful. Case in fucking point the armed home invasion of Meg Turney & Gavin Free that ended with police killing the assailant in their driveway. The guy chose to do it for no other reason than jealousy, and they hadn't even gotten publicly doxxed. Jack is absolutely well within his rights to pursue a legal resolution because people have done worse for less to other public figures, and we've seen what rabid and misguided "fans" can do when they think they'll get noticed and praised by their faves, even as far back as John Lennon being murdered for "being the reason the Beatles broke up".

We did manage to get them to make a statement by just posting so it's not impossible. The thing is it needs to be a sustained movement against them. Most creators are giving up not that KZbin has put out a statement accepting it as the final decision, but if they just kept pressing they could do more. I doubt sniperwolf learned anything from this situation and might actually benefit from it depending on how Jacksfilms continues from here.

Exactly!!! As much as I’d like there to be a mass exodus of creators, or having them turn off monetization, I know that A. That’s very unlikely to happen because a lot of creators are actually living off their KZbin income! And B. Even if they did turn off monetization, KZbin would still be getting money because they put ads on everything and receive all revenue from ads on non-monetized videos! And while it may be just as dangerous to take legal action against any big creator and big company, I think that is the best option Jacksfilms has right now (once he and his family are safe!) to finally get something out of this!

Taking legal action against KZbin won't get anywhere. You'd need millions of dollars and luck to even get it into discovery. And millions more to get it to a trial, at which point you're multiple years on, Jack would have ruined his career by going against KZbin, and it'd probably be dismissed since the guidelines are vague enough that it's open for interpretation. Looking at the past handling on similar situations, as well as the severity of the implications, you'd be right that KZbin has the moral responsibility to do something more than they have. But that doesn't make it a legal responsibility, and especially not a legal responsibility so certain that a government can force KZbin to act on it. Suing KZbin will only accomplish one thing, and that's make Jack lose his career and spend tons of his money.

This is the same BS I dealt with in high school, where the administration had a “zero tolerance” policy for fighting, so a few bullies beat the crap out of some poor kid just trying to get through his day, trying to do well so he could succeed in life. I recently saw a creator who admitted they didn't know jackfilms content claim that his videos toward her were harassing without watching first (they did at least say doxxing was too far). Had to hit the unsub button for that garbage take, but its a good indicator for how outside people with limited context don't release the content jack was making was a fair criticism of her content.

I think the scariest thing in this whole thing is the fact that SniperWolf is completely getting away with it while Jack hasn't posted anything in DAYS. I'm glad to see so many creators talking about this. I truly believe the only way to make youtube do anything is to speak out and not shut up. I think they want to wait it out until the next big "drama" comes out so the pressure is moved elsewhere. This is a good way to really put the pressure on, and I really hope it makes a difference. Anecdote: In 2020, my boyfriend at the time lost his YT channel, which dealt largely with cartoons and featured Scooby-Doo very heavily, due to DMCA takedowns. On the scale of responses "not editing copyright clips enough" and "LITERALLY ENDANGERING YOUR FELLOW CREATORS because you didn't like what they had to say", I just find myself equal parts outraged, bitterly amused, and just...depressed. I didn't know about sssniperwolf before she doxxed jacksfilms, and my first thought was about how terrible youtube is for not taking any reasonable action against her, but then I found out shortly afterwards that she's made content where she tries to get minors flash themselves and twerk for her on omegle and I'm genuinely dumbfounded that she had a platform for this event to happen in the first place. KZbin is fucking terrible.

Hell, even making them off site is risky, since most of the stolen content is from other platforms. It makes me really nervous for my future, since I need to start making an easily accessible online portfolio, and I was planning on using KZbin and social media because it was free. Now... who knows? Agree with everything you said in the video and I'm glad you made it! While it is a little outside your usual content, this is obviously important and not just "drama". It might even be especially helpful that people who don't cover drama stuff talks about this, since their audiences (including me) are more likely to be unaware of this stuff than people who do watch drama. Also, totally get why you might not want to film outside now, but this video looks good, so filming on your phone sometimes to make it more chill might be a great idea if it'd be less stressful :3

5:31 in addition to this in some areas doxing is dependent on how the information was procured. Being that widely avaible information easily searchable is not considered to be doxxing but information thats not widely avaible OR was procured by illegal means can be considered doxing.

I think one important thing is that Jack's push had started WORKING not that long before this - creators were being contacted and claiming videos, Sniperwolf was having to cut videos after the fact to remove certain TikToks (sometimes therefore making the video too short for midrolls) - he was starting to actually make ground
