The cracking of the crystal and loss of the shard was after the urSkek split into the Skeksis and the urRu not because of it. It was actually the Skeksis who cracked the crystal to keep themselves separated from the urRu after Aughra tried to get them to fix The Great Division since the full crystal was needed to reverse the Great Division. What had caused The Great Division was the urSkek trying to use the second Great Conjunction to burn away their darker half so they could return home to their planet. During the Conjunction one of their members "Dark Heart" believed by most to be SilSol, or the urSkek form of the Chamberlain (SkekSil) let his dark emotions get out of control causing the Great Division.

There was a little nod to Raunip as Maudra Ferra chose Raunip's Pass as the site for the trial by air with Celidon. To bad that trial never happened, as it would have been awesome to watch Celidon get owned and maybe give an opening to more info on Raunip. I hope he shows in season 2. Let there be a season 2!!!

The SKESKI choose to exist outside of the natural order through their belief that they are higher than all other species, and because of this, they slowly destroy their vital energy source. Isn't that exactly what we do, as a species?

What I want to know, is why did they opt for a matriarchal society. I saw some of the Male gelfling characters and they were flipping BADASS!! A Gelfling King would've been AWESOME!! Oh well, I suppose female leaders are more easily swayed... -oh did I just point out the obvious? (seriously, look at history for gosh sake) At least there are some male gelfling characters with good roles in the story. Sorry for the rant, I'm just tired of excessive female characters everywhere in media... (Yes, I'm one of those people that hated the pandering non-canon addition of Tauriel in The Hobbit trilogy.)
