So it reminding you of Chainsawman makes sense bc its one of the Dark Trio series in manga (sort of like big three before it) which includes Chainsawman, Jujutsu Kaisen and Hell's Paradise. These two series got popular at the same time and ran/run concurrently

@@miahan8988 I think that fight that's been happening for the last - how many was it? twenty? thirty? - chapters has overstayed its welcome a bit, but otherwise it's great (the last chapter I've seen - 265 - was awesome) I was lucky enough not to spoil major plot points with major characters beforehand so it's all great I think chapter 212 is still the best chapter tho (if you know you know)

Definitely stick with the sub - the pacing evens out a LOT going forward, the early episodes are just a lot to take in and sadly the dub has some weird voicework throughout imo

The pacing isn’t even that fast, the pacing for this episode is pretty much the same as all other first episodes in modern shonen, they just have short attention spans

I’ve compared the dub and sub versions and I think: - Gojo’s dub is pretty good, and the English dialogues are better than the subtitles on the sub version - Geto and Toji voices were terrible (geto has a certain emotion towards gojo which wasn’t present in the dub) and Toji sounds like a teenager 😭😭 - every other character in the show for the most part have voice actors who enhance the characters in the sub version and add more personality to them. The dub voices for the most part sound unnatural (prime example geto. Just listen to him saying gojo’s name in both versions. Not the pronunciation but the delivery). Overall, Sub wins by a long shot!!

JJK is my favorite shounen so far, so I'm excited!!! S1 is basically "elements that you need to know for future seasons" like getting to know tha cast, and how jujutsu sorcery works, BUT! there is some things that I feel compeled to warn you about: *while this anime has a lot of "shounen anime" tropes, they do it in a really different way, thinking it's going to do something and then they don't, so enjoy the ride. Also you will figure out things from MC Yuji point of view, so it may feel the show is a little slow paced story wise, but fast paced in others. Also the title means Batlle of sorcery, so there will be a lot of fighting *PAY A LOT OF ATTENTTION, the explaining aspect of the world building...somewhere I read it was like playing Souls games, the story and lore isn't in your face, but rather you have to build the lore with the info they dump on every episode (yes, there is the typical anime dialogue explaining but it's not that much and also comes with a really satisfying reason why) Like in this episode, they talk about the rugby team and they are cursed, and later they show you it actually is, and then that curse is what attacks them at the end, everything in JJK relates to something else, so try your best at paying attenttion to even little things.

The records they were showing on screen weren't the teacher's and Yuuji's distances. They put up the national record & the world record for reference. Yuuji threw it roughly 30 meters, while the world record was 23. Also, the yellow talismans in the room Yuuji was held in weren't curses. Sukuna's finger was wrapped in another elaborate talisman to keep it contained.

You split the first word into abbreviations but not the second? 1:04 and the first face you see from the POV 3:07 almost perfectly filled in the audio hehe 4:51 I thought you'd call it out after wondering if they'll be right 5:20 they were - talismans ( 5:41 aaa - got close) 6:30 lol - he's talking to _both_ , and _both_ are blushing 7:40 it was so damn sudden like I knew during the prolonged silence that he must've died, BUT I was like "...No. no, I people dont generally die like that, he's energetic enough to have days, or at least hours... a curse killed him!"

I personally found the dub pretty lackluster, which says a lot as I prefer watching anime if dub if they're quality and available. Aside from a voice or delivery choice I didn't like, there are a couple of mistranslations that really soured my opinion of it

Ima say do what you want but would recommend to stick to the sub cause while im personally...eh on the dub. (I feel while the actors aren't bad they aren't directed well) the main reason is one character is leagues better in japanese and not cause the english VA is bad, not at all i love them. Just the voice they had this actor do....does not fit the character at all which i personally feel is important to understanding that character later (trying to be spoiler free since you're only on the first episode lol...if anyone knows who i mean...you get it right?)
