I have had nerite snails in the past. The only problem I had was all the eggs they kept laying was all over my aquarium. I had a hard time scraping them off. I like to look at them but in someone else's aquarium. 😁

Hey so idk if I actually commented or just imagined it lol but I asked a question a while ago. In 0:37 I really liked the rounded leafed plant right in the middle, but I didn't know what the plant was called, Im planning to order some live plants online for my aquarium. It looks like the baby tears plant? But Im not entirely sure so I thought I'd ask to make sure :)
@RaccoonCreekAquatics5 жыл бұрын
Hey! Sorry if I missed your comment before. Are you referring to the green plant with the round leaves? That is hydrocotyle tripartina

Hello from 2020, but I have a question that I hope you’ll see: If you can’t use fertilizers with Nerites, how can you have a planted tank set up? I prefer Nerites over other snails because they’re common at stores in my area (but I haven’t looked real hard for trumpet snails, which would be the other I’d look at), but I have a dream of doing a planted tank. I’m probably going to do a smaller Pleco species or maybe shrimp for this next tank I’m going to set up soon, but having this info would be great for the future!

I have four in my 55 gallon. Two tiger one zebra and one black racer. Whenever I look at the tank I try to find them and they are alway far from where they were before. I think they are faster then they let on lol. They are great members of my cleaning crew and along with the 7 otto’s and Cory cats they do an amazing job

As the Snail is not going to hatch I heard that they stick eggs everywhere a friend told me that it's hard to remove eggs everywhere even in driftwoods how to take care of removing all the eggs?
@pamelapilling69966 жыл бұрын
I have 2 Zebra in a sparsely planted, fish heavy 10G. They go all over the place, at a fast pace too. They do lay eggs on the driftwood, the glass, the thermometer but they are easy to scrape off with an old credit / loyalty / debit card or my thumb nail. I will scrub the driftwood with a brush if they get too thick.

I’ve never kept nerites because I don’t mind snails breeding but they are beautiful. Have you had any issues with them laying eggs on the glass? (I know they won’t hatch but I’ve heard many complain about white spots from eggs)

Not really. I do occasionally find eggs on the backside of plant leaves, but not on the glass

Love your video! I just bought my first zebra snale a week ago, been adding a shake of salt to each 5gal water change for a couple of months, now I have about 20 - 25 little ovel dots all over my aquarium. Hopefully it is not a parisite! They don't move, so is it eggs? Should I stop the dash of salt to water changes?
@Thisisnotmyrealname84 жыл бұрын
If you don't know that those are eggs, which it sounds like they are, then you should do some research about adding salt to your water. It's bad for freshwater fish, but if you're trying to breed nerites, salt is needed. That's about all I know, so, like I said, research it first.

Unfortunately these are the only creature i can't keep. I've bought 8 and only 2 of them have even moved. My water parameters are good , they've been given good food. I've left them in the tank for 2/3 months and checked them regularly onlt to eventually remove an empty shell. Sad and expensive. In Australia they cost between $15/ $20 a snail. Any tips or advice from anybody very welcome
@RaccoonCreekAquatics4 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry for your hard times with these snails. How do you acclimate them? Have you tried drip acclimating them to your tank? If they don't move at all in your tank, they might get shocked from change in water parameters
@fishrrelaxing93616 жыл бұрын
I just got some.. these guys are endless workers. I don’t care what kind of tank you have.. if you don’t have some of these your tank isn’t stocked well. In 2hours 7 snails cleaned and entire 44g with diatom everywhere. The tigers and zebras work just as hard only difference is colors. Cant speak to the rest. But I can say a handful of these guys with a few bristlenose pleco and couple black mollies. You’ll be hard pressed to find a better cleanup crew then this 1-2-3 punch in any planted tank. Don’t overlook the black mollies. They are as hard a worker as any snail or pleco. I’ve watched them go into a new tank and in less then 1min start chowing on diatoms. They are very underrated and overlooked in terms of tank cleaning.

There's no flow to this video. The constant stop and start of the editing is very off putting. It would be better if you could have longer streams of info at once, the cut a-ways should be on pivot points that accentuate the highlights. Great theme for a video, got two nerites myself but put some of your personality in the video, don't just read off facts in that abrupt style. Put some panache in it! ~Peace~
