I have the toughest Nerve plant on the planet. I got it 2 years ago. I water it once a week and have it in my home office. In two years I have never misted or fed it. I am a neglectful plant parent, but I swear he's doing wonderful. Thank you for the info. I'm considering propagating him in the near future or possibly dividing him up into two separate pots. Could use some advise on how to do that.

I have two. They both seem to be doing well. My green one seems to be healthy and getting larger (although slowly). The pink one seems healthy, but not growing much. It doesn't have tons of stems though so maybe that's why. They definitely don't do well in direct sunlight. I had them on my table thinking they needed better light, but the sun comes in pretty good there. Some leaves got bleached. The pink one got extremely pink. The only other issue i have with them is they get brown tips sometimes due to dry air.

Hi, I just bought my first house plant, Fittonia just two weeks ago. At first all is well, but I noticed that the leaves are somewhat wilted like half of the leaf (top part) , I already watered it but it is not perking up. Not sure if it is humidity because some of the leaves are curling but there are new leaves forming so I know it is not dead. But not sure what is wrong 😭. This time, however....he's either "being a little dramatic"...or I done messed up...what should I do? I've watered and crystaled, set him in indirect sunlight on my porch on a warm sunny day and nothing...crickets...just sad little veiny leaves wilting over his pot, as if to sadly say, "eff....you....." 😢

I didn't water it since I first received it, so I gave it a drink but it didn't change the plant, what do I do? I don't want the rest of the leaves to wilt
@GoodGrowing5 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry you're having issues! I'm not a total expert but from what you've said it sounds like its in a bit of a shock. This is fairly normal for fittonias as they are quite sensitive. You did well to give it water, they like a lot of moisture, especially if they're in a bright spot. Make sure it's not getting any direct sun, especially as the glass from the terrarium could amplify that! I'm not sure if that helps at all, but give it time and care and it hopefully will get better soon! Best of luck!

I got one from Walmart, a gift from my mother since the quarantine has got me collecting plants. The little information card was all wrong, it says that it likes low light and water when soil is dry. Low light is a lot different than bright indirect sunlight.

I was looking for a plant that thrives in low light and these popped up on google. Then I realised that I have some of these in my aquarium, as I was sold them as an aquatic plant. All the leaves fell off because of my plecos (they've now moved tank), but they're growing back well. Should I remove it or not?xx
@GoodGrowing5 жыл бұрын
The shop did you dirty there as fittonias are not aquatic as far as I know. They work best in terrariums (rather than aquariums) or places with high humidity. I would suggest taking it out before it dies and causes problems with water quality. With any luck you may still be able to pot them up as houseplants! Best of luck!

@GoodGrowing4 жыл бұрын
To me it sounds like it's growing leggy. The stems are reaching out searching for light meaning that it probably wants to be in a brighter light spot (no direct sun). Try moving it to somewhere with a bit more indirect light

@GoodGrowing5 жыл бұрын
Hmmm it could just be a bit shocked from the move. You could probably wait it out a bit and make sure it gets enough water and humidity and it may pop back up. If it doesn't I think tera cotta may not be the right pot for a fittonia as they really like the moisture and tera cotta wicks it away. You could put them in big pots I suppose. But I try and keep my pots proportional to the plant sizes. I'm not totally sure what's in orchid mix but fittonias like well draining but still damp soil. They like to be moist most of the time so as long as it's not super drying it should be okay! Just keep an eye on it the first few weeks after repotting to make sure it's doing alright!

If your house is already quite humid, you may not need to mist it no. But I'm saying like 60-75% humidity. Otherwise it would probably be good to supplement it a little bit. They like bright indirect light so no direct sun, but not shade. A few metres away from a window should be fine

@GoodGrowing4 жыл бұрын
So it's quite possible it has been overwatered and may have gotten stem or root rot. Because it's now winter and much colder and darker, you need to adjust your watering. I give all my plants a mixture of my menstrual blood and water for fertilizer and they love it. I get new growth and flowers and babies like crazy. I give them my blood once a month.

I was thinking of bringing one home asap but as soon as I heard the drama queen lol hmm maybe later 😂

Honestly they aren't too bad once you understand what they need. I would totally suggest getting one. Fittonia was one of my first houseplants and I had no idea what I was doing at the beginning and mine is still going strong!

Mines leaves keep falling off there are only 4 leaves left on it please help And I put mine in a big pot thinking it would give the small fittonia plant more room to grow Mine is the pink one with green edges please help it’s going to die soon.
@GoodGrowing5 жыл бұрын
Oh no!! I'm sorry to hear that you're not having a good time with your fittionia. I'm not totally sure why the leaves are falling off but it may be due to the stress of repotting. Fittonias are super divas so just one little thing wrong can stress them out, sometimes to the point of no return. It's also possible that it may not be getting enough humidity or water, especially as its summer right now. Either way, try to keep some consistency with it. Keep it in a place with no drafts and mist it every morning or keep it by a humidifier. Please let me know if any of that helps! Best of luck!

Good Growing alright I repotted it in a smaller pot today and I’m going to water it 2 times a week Hopefully it will survive Thanks I’ll give update to u if things go well!
@GoodGrowing5 жыл бұрын
@@tree3y763 Twice a week seems like a lot. It may be better to water it only when the top inch of soil is dry. To test that stick your finger down 1 inch into the soil and if it feels dry then it needs water. Or you could get a water meter and do the same. Do make sure to give it humidity regularly though. I think I mist mine just about every day. Or you can get a humidifier instead. But yes, do keep me updated!

HELP!!! My fitonnia isn’t doing so well. I left for a trip and came back seeing it was droopy. Before so, she was thriving! Sprouting new babies all over. This being my first fitonnia, I thought it needed more sun seeing it was drooping. I left it out side in direct sunlight for all but a day and she is FRIED! I now understand she just needed water. NOT SUN. I am devastated. I feel like a bad plant mom! What can I do to help her? Do I leave her few crunchy leaves? So I trim them? Anything would help! ):

OH NO!! I'm so sorry to hear you're having trouble with your fittonia! I'm not an expert, but from my experience here's my thoughts. Likely it was just thirsty after not being watered while you were on holiday. If you haven't already, take it out of the sun and keep it in bright, but INDIRECT light. Check if the soil is moist about an inch (2cm) down. If its dry, give it a thorough water. I'd trim off any crispy leaves and hope that it survives. Mist daily and make sure to keep checking the moisture. Good luck! And let me know how it goes!

Mine looked awful until I threw her in a terrarium and left her alone for a month. She couldn't be happier.

Drama queen for sure! I have resorted to naming her Karen and we argue regularly 😂 She also thinks she’s a cool chick with a lean. I thought I was doing something wrong but she seems healthy.

Odd enough, my common mint is more of a drama queen than my fittonia

Interesting! Just goes to show, different plants in different places will behave differently!
@dotsdot56084 жыл бұрын
@@GoodGrowing Agree. I live in the tropics north hemisphere. While here the monsoon is starting to bring plenty rain, its still pretty hot (like 30°C) which is unfortunate for mint.

@@dotsdot5608 Oh yeah but a fittonia would love the heat and humidity I'm sure!

"They're just dramatic and you need to water them" unfortunately mine just wants to die, he's so close and I'm just about to give in and just go "ALRIGHT DIE THEN"
@anni-riin32543 ай бұрын
I'm experimenting giving him an option, a lot less light but no chance of cold draft. If he doesn't like it then well, I tried 😆
