Nervous Day on a Mountain Bike! - Deuchney MTB - Kinnoull MTB - Perth MTB

Today was a day of two halves. The first half I was a bag of nerves because I nearly had an otb straight away and that shook me. But as the day went on and with Pete's encouragement I got back into it and improved...still no where near my A-game but better than I was at the beginning of the day. Confidence is so fickle- blink - and it can disappear!

I really need to get along and have a look at this place. Looks like fun. On a slightly different note, have you ever worked on your bike set-up much? Like positioning etc. Making sure the suspension is set right etc. Your brakes are always making a lot of noise as well, are you sure they're not contaminated? I just ask as making sure it's all set-up properly will be a good way of getting a bit more confidence in your riding. Of course it's impossible for me to say how your set-up is from a video, but if your ever feel like you want a hand, give me a shout. I run my own bike repair business, been working with bikes for years, if I can help you get more out of your bike for your videos I'd happily help out. Keep up the good honest bike videos Donald, they're a pleasure to watch. Take it easy dude.

Thanks for the kind words and advice mate. I think my bike is set up properly and sometimes I feel totally fine and confident on it. Other times I'm all over the place. I've been thinking about why that is a lot recently and feel a lot of it is down to lack of fitness, feeling tired and not getting enough time on the bike. I was hardly out on my bike last year and I'm totally rusty and unfit!🤣🤣 The squealing brakes are annoying. I've tried cleaning the rotors, changed the pads many times but it keeps happening. I think what I may be guilty of is slamming them on too hard before they've bedded in properly and glazing them over. You should definitely get yourself to Deuchny Woods mate, there are lots of great trails there. Where do you usually ride?

Sorry I only just noticed you'd replied to this. Watched your recent video, glad you've got your brakes sorted. Less distractions the better the way I look at it 😁 I mainly ride the pentland hills in Edinburgh. There's decent enough trails but it's hard work, the descents aren't really long enough. There's usually walkers too so you need to keep an eye out for them at times depending on where you are. They're fairly natural as well so that adds a bit of fun to them, your quite exposed to the weather if it turns.

@HaggisHunter I need to get myself over to try out the Pentland Hills I've never done any of them. Perhaps in the summer I'll get a chance on hopefully a nice day...but Scottish summers aren't always guaranteed sun as we all know!💨💦🌧🌩⚡️⛈️🤣🤣🤣

@@muddymongoosemtb9873 if you ever fancy it let me know, I run a wee bike repair business called backyard bikes and I'm fairly local to it. It's a massive place and can be a bit of a job navigating around it so would be more than happy to show you around. Definitely a place where you need to give yourself plenty time though as getting from one trail to the next can be a bit of a slog. It's good fun though. It's more sort of old school xc MTB but there's something for most people up there. If you do decide to go on your own heading to the car park at bonaly is probably the best place to start.

What time did you go to deuchney Hill at I was there early morning to mid day for the show the trails are epic and don't worry i taken 3 attempts at rock Hudson and fanny's you're aunt 😂
