This is one of my favorite NES games from back in the day, and I never knew each stage was connected and the whole thing takes place on one giant mountain. I also never realized stage 7 spells out "Nintendo Game Boy." I have learned much by watching this. Also props on having the results screen at the end of each stage float over to where the next stage starts. Might have been a bit hard to follow otherwise.
@TheUltimateGamer078 жыл бұрын
+MushroomRetainer You know, this was one of the first video games I ever owned, and I have playing it for 26 years, I have never noticed that pattern in Level 7 until you pointed it out. That's amazing.
@nataliemendelsohn13175 жыл бұрын
@@TheUltimateGamer07 Same here, it never looked like letters to me, i guess the close up makes it unrecognizable , also i knew I was climbing up a mountain of some sorts, but never knew it was so well connected, i always thought the moon was separate from the earth for obvious reasons.
@IanHollis2 ай бұрын
Same! "I was today years old when..." Also, I think it's less obvious that they're all connected, because the level's colour pallette stays relative to the level.

Same! I just found out yesterday when I fell onto a pic of the map and had my mind blown. Then somebody mentioned this TAS and I just had my mind blown again lol.

I really thought this game was ahead of its time and was really cool. I think its one of the most under rated games of NES history.

When its zoomed out like this you can see how elaborate the game was on the level design. Nice Atlas

I know this aren't the actual game graphics but that's a very good looking NES game. Because of the isometric view it reminds me on Sonic 3D Blast, but it's much older. And it's hard, very hard - but also quite good and funny, with nice music! A real classic!

Honestly this game was pretty impressive using isometric view technology on the very limited capabilities of the NES.

@GlitchWitch From what I understand the nes ran on a laughable 2kb of memory so developers had to cut enormous corners to make it run smoothly.

Well done! Never knew this. I have a game genie and would get myself caught up with high jumps but getting stuck in the “next level” and seeing things off screen. NOW it all makes sense...especially how the stage’s color would change the previous/next stage’s level depending on which level you were in. So cool.

One of the hardest games... SMASHED into a childsplay. Amazing to watch and to see the true limits of a game like this. I thought I was good? After watching this, nope. Lol. All TAS video completely ruins the way you normally play xD This game is so good, I would like to hug it till I die and even after death I'll hug it. Love this game so much. Solstice too!

i m not a fan of speedruns but this ... awsome and with this zomout very nice but why is your bossfight so short?
@NESAtlas Жыл бұрын
The gameplay is from a Tool-Assisted Speedrun, so the authors of the TAS were able to complete the bossfight incredibly fast where they could manipulate button presses on each individual frame. I use TAS runs to make editing these videos easier on me :)

Is there a way to remap keys using emulation to where the controls are accurate? By that I mean, down moves you straight down, up straight up, etc. I fail hard with the default controls. Can't get used to them.

how was this video even made? anyway i can think of involves an elaborate amount of effort

@@NESAtlas Thank you so much for this great job! I appreciate rushing through my favorite game ... even including the transition scenes in between levels ... in UHD ... showing how the nipples behave in each level ... and all of this while showing off how the levels are connected. You also placed the swimming pools of level 8 right above the according building structure (they just had to swap textures) ... Such a great job visualizing the game internals, just by running through. You are awesome, terrific, incredible, sensational, magic! :)
