Glad to see my man Spike getting representation, and a much more suitable choice than Donald messing with Daisy. Their relationship is shaky enough as it is. Come to think of it, Snoopy is immensely popular in Japan to the point even his obscure relatives have pop up store merchandise. Why didn't they go with Snoopy for the main character in the first place?

I had this game back in the NES era (still have it). It was definitely more fun in two-player since you could compete, but otherwise yeah it doesn't hold much interest. Back then I was able to master everything *except* the pole vault -- it wasn't until earlier this year that I learned you're supposed to let go of the A button at the peak of the vault so Snoopy lets go and reaches the other side.

I wonder what this game cost when new. I'd assume about $50 - which would have been a big slap to the face if you were debating between this and... well, so many other great games in 1988 (RC Pro Am, The Guardian Legend, Blaster Master, Double Dragon 2, Super Mario Bros 2, Mega Man 2... etc). It kind of feels like the game you'd see at the local drug store on the shelf of discount stuff - but that market didn't really exist until the 32-bit disc game era. I could totally see this being a $5 game that grandparents would pick up for their kids along with the weekly prescriptions.

I rented this game a few times as a kid. It was a fun little two player game. That said, we always rented two games at a time, so we'd play this off and on. It was good for a half hour or so of fun every now and then. We'd always just walk nonstop to get the pizza event over with. Caveman Games is another NES title in a similar vein. It too is a bit difficult to figure out the controls, but when you're both kids (or adults) who have no idea how to play it's a good time.
