This increases the likelyhood of a new discovery by making essentially a temporary legal monopoly. However the negatives are that a monopoly on idea's is very bad for actually use-ing the new technology, because of some suply and demand rule. "If price is lower when high suply and price is higher when low suply, why not just suply less and make more money for lower cost" (me, 2021) Many companies use this knowledge to artificially increase prices, which automatically makes the suply lower (just look at pharmaceutical companies)

When I was in business school, some Nestle executives who were alumni came to promote Nestle (among other companies, it's like a cocktail party to meet students and hire them before they even graduate). I ended up meeting one of them and he went on about his salary and his job, then asked a friend and I if we had questions or would be interested to come to their offices for a meet&greet brunch type thing. I replied that I would never work for them because I wouldn't be able to sleep at night. I watched his face go from "charming" to "blank" and I left to get a drink. I still wonder how their employees can live with themselves.

Yes and no. Because most mineralized water comes from distilled water, it has added salts and minerals, which is good, because we need electrolytes to stay hydrated. This, coupled with the fact that tap water has chloride to sanitize it, while bottled water usually doesn't, makes the latter taste better. Drink spring water from a mountain and it will taste absolutely delicious, because of those minerals. Now, people with high blood pressure might want to avoid bottled water for its high sodium content, that's true. Edit: Nestle is still evil.

I live in the country where this company was founded. Unfortunately, Nestlé isn't the only one, most of the giants of the food industry have such practice. If lots of people are complaining, most of them don't even bother to read the labels of products when shopping. The first victims are the very poor countries.

Let’s not forget with the Michigan’s Flint water crisis: governor rick Snyder’s wife was the head spokesperson of Nestle in Michigan. Instead of using clean water sources available for Flint, they decided to use it from the Flint River. Meanwhile nestle was using the clean water sources for their company. When I first learned that Rick Snyder’s wife was with Nestle, I found that very suspicious… if a whole city’s water is undrinkable, they will probably choose to buy water bottles, meaning lots of money for water bottle companies such as Nestle. Then when you read how much Nestle was benefiting from this Flint water crisis, as in they got to use the source of clean water for their business, instead of allowing clean water to Flint residents, it gets even more deplorable.

As a Californian, this video means a lot to me. Nestle steals from everywhere and everyone. We’re in a drought and have been since 2008. It’s worse than that, we’re in a mega drought. Nestle decided to steal water from us. Now my water bill is $300/month (which is likely similar for other California residents) and I don’t even waste water (likely for other CA residents)! I try my best to conserve water :/ California has a lot of agriculture, so of course we need lots of water to grow food for us and other areas importing food from here. We also have lots of desert land (I grew up in a desert), with that being said, growing up in a desert you need more water because you get dehydrated more quickly and you also get sweaty quicker because it’s so hot, so we need to shower more. Nestle thinks water isn’t a human right and many people throughout the globe have experienced that first hand. It is a human right. Everyone needs it to live. If anyone doesn’t deserve water it’s these assholes in charge of nestle stealing water from us. They can drink dust for all I care. Nestle owns frisky’s cat food too, and I gave some to my kitty once. Poor thing for horrific food poisoning and wouldn’t stop throwing up and having diarrhea! Nestle clearly doesn’t care about their customer base at all. I’ll never buy that cat food ever again.

While it's definitely useful for the user and helps with financial inclusion, there needs to be a better understanding of what you're giving up instead. It's one thing to offer bottled water as "pure, mountain spring water" when, in fact, it's tap water. It's quite another to divert a water supply from a community & then profit from the sale of tap water. I wouldn't call it a "right to water" so much as an illegal operation to purposefully deny a community their natural resources so a company can charge a fee for access to that very same resource which has been taken away.

Yeah, when they bought out the company I used to work for, the younger employees were worked to the bone and gaslit through theft until enough quit to be replaced by THEIR workers. That's when they finally got a camera for the break room too. The older ones that decided to stay on because of the benefits, were mistreated with brunt work when the younger ones were gone. Their contracts technically stated that they could do X,Y,Z but it hadn't changed in a decade. No, a 60 yr old with arthritis should NOT be carrying those or be forced to stay overtime. Oh and then get in trouble FOR getting overtime. It was sad to watch it happen within a year of the buy-out. They do not have a single original employee left but that's how they like it. Its just the foundation of our physical reality, that's all. :D Wanting things to change vs being able to stay balanced as your reality is turned upside down. That's a bit of a selfish attitude when you spell it out, so they also don't want to confront their own selfishness. But actually, change is fun. Our brains have to work a lot when things are changing moment to moment and we have to actually think about what to eat and how to make money and where to stay night to night, moment to moment. People's brains are lazy from having everything ordered and timed exactly right. They had a plan and are benefitting from that coming to fruition and they are afraid to lose those benefits. And ashamed to put that before the welfare of others. But from my perspective others welfare is really important for my welfare. So obviously they are missing the connection to reality. They live in a state of delusion as if what happens to others will never ever affect them. They can just pity them from afar. Its a bit sad and stupid. Its like they ARE the corporation - In their minds because they interpret themselves as benefitting. That's how they get people on their side by making them feel attached to the rewards and by making them complicit in their crimes. Like so many people are addicted to shopping or to junk food..

God, I'm poor in Africa. Got my first job after five years of searching only to be given a "uniform" perfectly mimicking that of doctors in public hospitals and being told to walk into hospitals abd wards to sell a terrible technical medical products to hypertensive and diabetic patients. To say I kept having panic attacks at the realization I was harming already sick vulnerable people was an understatement. This "treatment" was IMF supported and they weren't paying us a living wage.

Absolutely scandalous!! What gets me really mad, is the lack of support or help for whistleblowers, NOT residing in N. America. If you were to say something about that company, obviously you would lose your job, so what other choice is there, but to work under such constraints?? I so hope that a better job comes your way, so that you step away from that vile company and it's ongoing acts of depravity!

One of my major routines in supermarket since years is to check package for NESTLÉ trademark. If it's there, thing won't land in my cart. Same with other companies from the "rootless cosmopolitan" tier. Local brands, local producers. They exist, and they deserve your money.

Same here. I go to the wet market for seafood and other meats while I would really make an effort to go to local shops and farmers. I also stopped eating chocolate, drank milk, or bought products from Nestle. I just really hate them for the formula milk thing. I'm not a mother but I see mothers who have really changed their perception towards breastfeeding as a bad thing. Ugh.

these businesses are are doing everything they can to ensure that you never have a choice. We must do everything we can to ensure they don’t. The free market is no longer free, it hasn’t been for a long time. We’ve replaced government tyranny with tyranny of the rich. The lines between the government and corporations are also becoming disturbingly blurred, for example with OxyContin.

Some women can't produce enough breastmilk. I was only producing about 0.25 oz of breastmilk per breast at each feeding. I fed every half hour to an hour for four months straight, I pumped, I tried all the galactagogues I could get my hands on. I still couldn't produce any more than what I currently was. So, for health reasons, I had to supplement formula so my baby didn't die then went exclusively bottle fed at about 6 months. It was either formula or the NICU. It wasn't a "trendy" decision driven by emotions.
