Micheal, you made a small mistake regarding the number of participants in Palestine Congrss in Germany. There was about 800 tickets sold for the Palestine Congress. The law was changed in 2012 so that you can't squat a residential building. The consequence was that many people in many cities, once housed within the squatting groups, ended up in tents or homeless accomodation. saw it happen with my own eyes 2009-2015 😓

I squatted several times in London in the 80s: met some amazing people! One landlord in Ladbroke Grove wanted to throw us out but was reasonable enough to grant us a verbal licence enabling us to stay at a notional 'one week's notice' in case he found an actual paying tenant. We were there for months, keeping the place clean, tidy, lit and warm: an Edwardian townhouse, with a flight of steps up to the grand pillared portico, etc. Those were the days.
