My favorite interaction to have with anti-Christian leftists: "How can you be Christian after all the evil things the church has done?" "How can you be socialist after all the evil things Stalin and Mao did?" "That wasn't real socialism!" "Exactly." It usually turns into a semantic argument about how it's not the same thing from there, so while it's unproductive I at least get some entertainment value out of it.

This aside, the fact you use the word "pagan" confirms what I mentioned, Pagans don't exist anymore. A "Pagan" is a Christian term, typically for the non-Christian polytheist. If one were a "Pagan" then it would make no sense to say that, as it is meaningless unless you are Christian, like what do you mean by Pagan? Do you believe in the Greek Gods? The Romans? The Norse? The Egyptian? A "Pagan" in modern times is a larper that doesn't even know the name of that which they claim to believe.

The first Christian to ever come to Norway was an English princess that fled from a marriage with a non-Christian. She ended up on an island on the west coast with some of her servants. There they lived until the pagan came to the island to kill them. The princess fled to a cave and prayed for a Christian death. The cave gave in and buried her. After that sailors stopped on the island because they kept seeing a bright light there. One of them eventually found bones that smelled like flowers. At this time a Norwegian King had brought Christianity to the land and he went to investigate the island and the cave. There he found the princess and canonised her on the spot. They also built a church in front of the cave, and a monastery on the island. Both the monastery and the church were in use until the reformation. Today you can visit this island, go into the cave and drink from a source that is said to heal people. St. Sunniva and St. Olav, pray for our country.

@@pilgrimpits8872but just a story, and I’ll bet you I could find this same story being told before Christianity was even a thing in the world, most stories of saints are lifted straight out of mythology and folklore, then given a Christian spin. The Bible itself is full of this, what with the dying and rising son of god being a common motif among the “pagans” especially the hellenes, the earthquake breaking Paul’s and his fellow prisoner’s shackles and freeing them, just like in the Bacchae with what happened when Pentheus tried to imprison Dionysus, even Jesus being questioned by Pontius Pilate is paralleled in the same story.

Or the mafia of the day. They performed human sacrifice. They extorted, enslaved, and killed. I mean, christians did all those things to, extorted, enslaved, I mean they created and ran one of the biggest slave trades in human history as a god given right, and preformed human sacrifices, every death sentence done in a christian nation or land or kingdom is done so under the authority of god and the church, the burnings of "witches" and "wizards" were sacrificial, done in the name of god as a sacrifice to god, infact no theology has demanded more human sacrifice then that of the abrahamic theologies. Entire people groups, populations, languages, cultures and traditions utterly erased by the hands of ignorant religious fanatics. The christians of old equal the muslims of the modern day, fanatical, dangerous, religiously driven and quite vehemently ignorant and steadfast in their ignorance, this mirrors the christians as they are much the same. It's not hard to portray christians as down right evil and dumb as all one need do is read history and voila the sheer hypocrisy and fanaticism and damage wrought by the abrahamic theologies becomes clear and apparent for all to see, but there arw those who lack the courage to confront reality so they bury their heads in the sands of religious fervour and ignore all reality and history. Also what purpose does it serve to serve a plagerized, slanderous, erroneous and quite clearly fictional fantasy as the bible has been proven time and time again to be...I can only ponder that i suppose.

I will never become Christian. What is taught is surface level and incorrect. The history of abuse that had been done to my ancestors proves that the blind will commit violence for the sake of promoting their religion and then claim they're doing God's work. If you've been given the truth, then you'd realize that there are esoteric teachings that most of the world doesn't know, because worldly leaders want their flocks to be blind and easy to control. People have a very poor understanding of what is really written in the Bible because who among you humans is fully awakened and ascended in vibration? Who is an Incarnated Angel? We have someone who teaches what is truly in the scriptures but humans proved to God time and time again that they refuse to accept the holy spirit from his messengers. Archangel Michael will Incarnate one final time, when he would, is a mystery. True believers will have their chance to wake up to angelic teachings, or they wake up in horror at the end before being saved from the fate that this grim world is falling towards.

It began with the pagans getting ready to sacrifice female virgins to their tree god or whatever and those pesky christians coming in to put an end to it. The entire movie showed christians in a horrible light, but ended after a battle and a narration at the end reads that these pagans won and continued with their peace and freedoms until the pesky christians once again rose up and wiped them out. Peace and freedoms? How can human sacrifice be equated to peace and freedom? Anyway, not uncommon for cinema to do this, worldwide.

The most annoying thing about anti -Catholic bias is when the church is portrayed as opposing the advancement of science and knowledge when the exact opposite is true - no organization in world history has done more than the Catholic church to advance science and knowledge - just have to find out what or who established the great universities of the world starting with the ones in Italy and then going on to France, England, Spain and Germany -all Catholic founded. And to remove all doubts look up the list of the famous scientists et al who were actually Catholic priests and monks, even sometimes nuns - in a very real sense mankind would not have reached into outer space without the work of Catholic monks and priests starting with Copernicus, going through to the papal astronomers who created the Gregorian calendar and the reformed Chinese calendar through to the Belgian priest who invented the Big Bang theory. Most people wouldn't know that the Vatican has operated one of the world's foremost observatories for hundreds of years. The Galileo thing was just a blip.A book on the Jesuit order has stated that the history of science in the seventeenth century is merely an account of Jesuit achievements in that era. They even brought the latest astronomical discoveries to China and India.

Considering that people who followed the Norse religion would raid many Christian settlements from England,France,Russia,Spain, Portugal, Italy, North Africa, and other areas of the Black Sea. Vikings were very much not innocent pagans who minded their own business. They had a warrior focused culture with one of the only ways to get into their version of heaven being to die in battle. Heck William the conquerer’s ancestor was a Viking who went on to make a settlement in northern France in the region of Normandy and went on to siege Paris. After his failure of war on the French kingdoms he was given the option to convert and allowed to keep rule over Normandy or die. If that isn’t Christian forgiveness I don’t know what is. The point is the Vikings were not even close to peaceful they were obsessed with waging war they by all means colonized many areas during their age. I despise painting one religion as solely good well all others are bad. Especially considering that religion was highly against any form of sacrifice compared to the many pagan religions during the time.

no it doesn't. "Viking" is the english translation of the norse word víking, which is actually a verb roughly meaning "to sail" or "to go on an expedition" víkingr is a noun referring to "one who goes on an expedition." It was not restricted to Norse folk specifically, but rather to any form of raider. It was a slang of sorts, the two words were not specifically talking about raiding, though they were often used that way. The word viking died out for about a thousand years until it came back in the 19th century, often accredited to Sir Walter Scott. In it's new english form, it specifically referred to Scandinavian pirates. However, at it's roots, viking just means "to sail." Just a fun linguistics lesson for you.

I definitely understand where you’re coming from, but as a devout Catholic myself, I actually disagree. I think the depiction of the Catholic Church was actually very well done in this series. Often in scenes, I felt as if I was in Mass myself. Obviously, there are religious figures portrayed negatively, but no one in the series is downright evil, just human with human flaws. Rather, I think the series can be taken as a commentary and warning on religious fanaticism and schisms. In the series, Father Paul and his congregation never once go to the Vatican to report his “miracles,” which is a vital part in the process of the Church. Instead, people start following Father Paul himself instead of Christ, which is something that I have seen in churches myself and is indeed a problem that should be addressed. Of course, the series has its flaws, the ending where Erin spewed out a vague, atheistic approach to religion was super cringe and there are definitely some flaws in portrayal of some characters, but overall I don’t think it’s Anti-Catholic at all, but can be used as a way to get people to think on important issues in the Church.

My wake up call for the anti-catholic propaganda was the Castlevania animated show. They tried so hard to paint the Church as the guilty for Dracula's wrath and how corrupt we are. They wanted me to have empathy for a murderer whorshipper of satan because he "lost his wife" while making innocent people lose everything. Then there was this demon who was scolding this corrupt priest like it was not conveniant for the demon for him to be evil, but he was "holy" enough to turn an entire river into holy water.

@@Prince_Az_Myr No offense, but so do the Catholics. And I'm not just talking about the latest declarations of the current Pope here. Case and point: "Thou shall not have Idols/Gods before me." Catholics break that one all the time without batting an eye. Praying to both the Saints and to Mary (Most of the time in Statue Form.). This was something I could point out was a problem as a CHILD. They even told me point blank that's not what they're doing, by explaining how they're doing it right in front OF said statue. You pray to GOD, not his servants. "We're praying for them to intercede for us" they'd say, but then that begs the question 1) Why did Jesus have to die, if he is not the ONLY way to God? ("I am the way, the truth and the life. No One gets to the Father except through Me.") It's Jesus who's the mediator and HE IS GOD and 2) Does that not put God Below the Saints? (The Name above all names. The King of kings and God of gods?) Just last month, I even learned about an entire study of Mary (within the Catholic sect), stating some pretty whacky things not only about her (such as she is the "eternal virgin".... Jesus had brothers via Joseph.) BUT they actively teach a prayer about Mary that is so blasphemous that our entire class felt like we needed to be washed from simply HEARING that prayer being read and for the person who read it (despite not praying it) to repent. Oh and let's not even get started on some of the more controversial things that Do exist because OF the Catholic Church turning a blind eye even further that even the Non-Believers are calling them out for.

I remember watching the original vikings series (didn’t finish it) and see how they made out a heinous human sacrifice (even though it was willing) to be an honourable and glorious thing. True in quite a few areas. Some of the people and cultures missionaries contacted with didn’t have a set writing system or official language to use. The missionaries would learn about the people and help them standardize their language, writing down things and helping preserve it. Sometimes the only sources we have about certain cultures and ancient practices is those documents by the missionaries. The Norse mythology documentation is actually one of my favorites. In myth, there’s this great war involving the Aesir and Asgard which led to the near complete annihilation of the Aesir safe for a few who ended up being taken in by the Asgardians. There was another group I believe, but can’t remember of the top of my head right now. Anyway, yeah. There was this grand, epic, cosmic war and how much do we know about it now? Like, a few paragraphs that it happened and nothing else 😂 but there’s plenty of stories of the shenanigans the deities got up to, including a story of Thor getting roasted by his disguised dad, Odin, when trying to cross a bridge. My friend and I often joke the missionary assigned to write down the story ended up paired with a very distracted Viking warrior who always found any excuse to go off in battle. Each time he promised the missionary he would tell him what happened, but the Viking would always return too drunk to talk until the day came when he finally died in battle. At which point the missionary went “forget this!” and just never came back to finishing that story.

Alternatively known as the "Blood Eagle" or the "Eagle Sketch", it is unclear whether or not the torture involved carving the shape of an eagle into the victim's back, or making an incision and moving the victim's lungs out onto their back. Such a torture was noted in several contemporary documents, but modern scholars are unsure whether or not it was actually performed. On the other hand, there is no historical evidence for torture described above/depicted in the show.

The Last Kingdom was my favorite show in this genre but the show sadly had some anti-Catholic scenes. The saddest one was when Edward of Wessex is crowned and he admonished the Bishops for keeping access to the Bible away from the common people. This is a popular anti-Catholic myth and had nothing to do with the storyline so I can only imagine that it was done intentionally. I guess the show runners weren’t aware that the vast majority of of the population was illiterate and wouldn’t have been able to read the Bible and that Bible’s had to hand copied and were wildly expensive and not widely available. Another scene was when a priest was showing the king the body of a saint that was clearly decomposing but he kept insisting that it was incorrupt. It made Catholics look dumb and superstitious. There were other scenes like this as well generally portraying priests as corrupt and bigoted. On the whole The Last Kingdom was an excellent show but these little not-so-subtle anti-Catholic hints were unnecessary, not historically based, and betray Hollywood’s obvious anti-Christian bias.

of course Netflix makes christians look evil in their shows, look at the Castlevania Anime they make the Church look evil, according to what i read: the Anime is more Anti-Christian and Woke than the Video Games because the Video Games Portray the Church in a Positive Light but the Anime has an Evil Story about them. thats why i only play and like the games more than the anime.

I've put off watching this, but now I have to watch it. This idea that Vikings/Norse were "minding their own business" as you say is an interesting variant of the noble savage idea. Those "Vikings" who settled in England largely converted to Christianity. The idea that pagans resisted conversion is preposterous. It's because of Christians that we know about "pagans" in Northern Europe.

One of my favorite books is Byzantium by Stephen Lawhead. It's set around 900CE and focuses on a Monk from Ireland but there are Vikings, Arabs, action, adventure, humor, faith. I've read the paperback and listened to the audio book. Fantastic book.

As a proud descendant of the vikings and a historian, I call BS on so many things this show depicts and it frankly sickens me. The main guy behind this and the preceding vikings series stated in an interview that he knowingly plays very loose with the historical facts and basically just do what they want.

The worst part of about these shows and their anti-Catholic rhetoric, is that people actually believe it. I'm glad there are channels out there like this one and Real Crusades History that talk about the real history. The good and the bad. I'm an atheist, with no skin in the religious game, by the way. I'm just tired of these types of representations.

yeah... vikings were like... brutal. Like serious monsters that went around and.... offed countless people and..... nonconed a bunch of everyone. Really, why would anyone portray them as anything but barbarians? Well~ Then you look back on history and realize that that was commonplace.

Muslims did "some intelectual advancements", damn get a read on Baghdad Golden Era. What a way to try to dimish that. And in fact most of the ancient greek of math, nature and philosophy texts got to cristianity through Constantinople and Spain but already translated and reworked by arabs and muslims.

What I disliked about season 3 is the slander against the medieval roman empire, everyone is depicted as incompetent conniving fools who need strong vikings to show them how to fight. Whilst in reality they had been fighting on all fronts almost non stop for 3 centuries.

I as a catholic quite enjoyed Vikings Valhalla. A little sad now the 3rd season is its last. The story felt a bit incomplete. It could've used a few more episodes to tie up the stories. But yeah, its a show about Vikings so i get why the show was made in a way where the audience feels compelled to root for the Norse god believers and against Christians. I simply take it solely as entertainment and historical fiction and not as fact.

Not sure how your video made it my algorithm but videos like this are so important! I'd recommend maybe citing your information with historical documents for stronger arguments. Still though it's great to divulge this info to counter Netflix attack against Catholicism. I live historical dramas bit had to stop watching Netflix productions because I'd just end up angry at their misrepresentation and blatant lies.
