It was really hard to hold back the tears during this movie. The others in the theater couldn't do it, and you could hear some faint sobbing. Although there was one particularly sad scene in the middle of the movie which was somewhat ruined by the room next door. It was showing Godzilla vs. Kong and was playing it too loud, and you could hear some guy screaming "FUCK YEAH!!! GO KONG!!!" through the wall while our room was silently sobbing.

I finally saw the movie yesterday….and this….are my thoughts on this unbelievable ending and beware it spoils the movie so go watch it first. *Through all her hardships and all the upbringings, this was her perfect ending. I can’t truly put it into words exactly at how fulfilling it is to have watched this movie and cried through it. Among all the series I have watched and read, I don’t get that feeling of wanting more or a hole left behind, this movie managed to fill it with its spectacular ending. I truly regret stopping after episode 2, only to come back again and finish the season to be reduced to nothing but tears almost every episode. This movie made me cry so much for the secondary plot, the emotion it portrayed in wanting to give their final goodbyes before you go. I’m the end, we all will go through that, it’s never easy losing someone we care about but when that time comes we all come together to grieve and give our farewells. For the beginning, I did not expect the daughter Ann own child to start the movie out with seeming Violet all these years later, couldn’t stop myself in shedding a tear and to think her own daughter would end it by writing a letter to convey her emotions to her parents. Tho, in all the characters in this movie I will say Claudia Hodgins was my favorite, a man who acted as a Father to Violet and conveyed an emotion that Violet could not. Even when she was gone, I’m pretty sure he was truly satisfied with Violet getting the peace she deserved. As for the final two, with all she’s been through she was finally able to convey her emotions to Gilbert through the one thing she’s learned from, letters. Finally telling him that she finally understands tho words and in turn letting him know her own feelings and making him realize what was about to be his greatest mistake of all time for that letter was her final letter to him and in turn the letter holding her heart. Wont lie, literally said ‘just hug her’ right before he hugs her, lol. The ending was truly satisfying, them finally being together with it ending on a stamp of Violet herself on it, it was just great. The only thing and i mean only thing I wish was added, was a single glimpse of Violet and Gilbert having a child together or perhaps a look of when they are older/netting Ann’s daughter face-to-face. All in all, this deserves 100% ratings as a unbelievable final and closing to this story. I can’t exactly feel sad by much because it’s over but instead happiness at such a story getting an ending it so rightfully deserved. And this, is my thoughts on the movie.*

Almost every single episode had reduced me to tears at the pure emotion behind it. The feelings it conveyed was truly unbelievable next to the animation, music, voice acting, it was truly a wonderful story. The father and his Daughter, the mother and the daughter, the dying soldier, and many more. Each one conveyed an emotion that hit me so deeply, I honestly haven’t cried this much since my grandfather passed away even tho I wasn’t that close to him and haven’t cried since until my pet Corgi passed away. I just came here after watching the movie. I cried my eyes out and my head hurts from crying too much but I am glad... I am so glad for Violet. But is this the farewell?? This must be the last of we see of her journey. I had unknowingly become too attached to her. I will miss her and all the wonderful letters she writes.

After a few years of putting this off and having it collect dust on my anime watch list, I finally decided to watch it. At first I just wanted to watch an epsiode or two but by the time I realised it I was already finished with the series, the special, and both movies. This was so gratifying to watch, the emotions and the art was way beyond me. I would certainly recommend it to anyone who was ready to have their heart ripped out and placed back a little broken with every passing chapter in Violet's very wonderful self discovery journey.

Violet Evergarden, it will be forever remembered as a classic. From its creation to its ending, it never ceases to bore us even for a second. Every frame is an artwork of its own. Every narrative is embedded with true feelings. There's two heart wrenching emotion we feel as a Human, one is Nostalgia and the other is Melancholia. Though both of those emotions hurt us but we also let them, why? Because it's good to get hurt by our feelings and emotions rather than our own ego-centricisms and hatred and Violet Evergarden conveys it all beautifully with Love and Sophistication. So, it's safe to say, we'll never forget about this series. It's a part of us now and always has been. Thank you Kana Akatsuki and Akiko Takase Thank you Kyoani. Peace 🍁

Spoilers from the 2020 Movie and the novels. Please exercise caution when reading. You can just tell how much violet wanted to say i love you and how much he meant to her. All she could say was 'I' and 'major', the first words she uttered as a child. Such raw emotions. Someone who was raised as a tool, can cry so genuinely. The major who never cries in front of anyone else, broke down infront of the one he loves. (Spoilers as i go deep into their philosophy) He felt guilty, he felt undeserving of even touching her, consoling her after what he felt he forced her to go through. He couldn't protect her, he caused her to lose her arms, he couldn't give her a happy childhood she deserves but in the end, he still loves her. He couldn't stand being separated from her a second longer, not being with her as she goes through life. He was afraid of what might happen to her and can't stand the thought of her suffering on his behalf. All he needed was an answer, he needs to know how she feels no matter, whether its love or not, and then he could die happily knowing she has matured. Thankfully, it was a happy reunion. She was saved by him. Brought out of abuse, given a purpose and someone to protect. At first, he thought it was for protection but eventually both reliased it was out of love. She loved him ever since they first hugged, even before he confessed, he was the first light to her ever perpetual darkness. She would do anything to protect him. He is her first and only true romantic relationship she ever develops. No matter who else tried to charm her, she won't allow it because the one she loves has always around her neck. Spoilers. They eventually vowed to be together forever and never leave each other side. They affirmed that they are the only one for one another and sealed the deal with a kiss. Both are disabled. One lost both arms, one lost an arm and an eye. But if you asked them, they would unquestionably say it was all worth it as their impact on one another is and will always be priceless. They would do it again in a heartbeat. Since childhood, he has a fear of loneliness. As a high ranking militant, he was sought out for status instead of authenticity. But now he has reunited with the one he loves and the same goes for her. If there is another season, it would dive into their respective insecurities as they have to spend time apart due to their respective jobs. Finally vented. 😞 Thank you for such a well crafted story. My heart is still recovering from reading the novel but as the author put in the epilogue, remember no matter what you are going through, violet will be waiting. No matter the place, time or situational. She truly is extremely precious and a masterpiece of a creation.

@@d.a.r.n1869 Your apprehensions are normal but once you actually read and understand the respective characters thoughts feelings and desires, you'll understand that there is no one else that is more perfect then they are for one another. Spoilers They are willing to die for one another, when he was supposedly dead, the other truly wished to perish as well but won't because his final wish was for her to grow and live on, not as a tool but as a person. At first he wanted to protect her but then he learnt to love her and finally love her the most. In a similar vein, she love him the most as everyone else treated her as a tool and a monster. People attempted to kidnap and rape her but she was able to save herself. He was the sole object of affection that she could never part with, the person who accepted and changed her. The person who gave her new life, the person who forgave her and accepted her once again, although she found herself as a failure. The person who was there for her when she needed someone the most, saying the things she needed to hear most, from the person she needed to hear it from the most. He admitted that he doesn't need wealth reputation or anything else as long as he has her. He doesn't even force her to choose a path, all he needed was to hear her reply be it a rejection or otherwise, after that he will be satisfied, finally knowing that she has indeed grown out of her shell. As we soon found out, the one who feel in love first was already predestined. He actually returned to the army so he could get promoted as soon as possible to veto any orders that would had forced violet into battle. She no longer kills anyone and can't be judged for it. When they finally reunited, she admits that their separation due to their respective jobs causes pain far worst that any wound she incurred. Things starts to lose their sense of reality to her when she doesn't see him, and she would slowly start to break. No longer the emotionless monster she once was. No other person was able to made them feel the feelings they harbour for one another. Go and read Volume 4 chapter 4 and 5, which I personally seen has zipped the mouths of even the most adament critiques into supporting their relationship. That is the masterful piece of creation which shows age has no part to play as long as the love is mutual. What would had been worst was unrequited love or ending up/seeing them with someone else.

@@mercenarytan751 yeah, I've watched the movies and series so I know all this, but still, it feels weird for me, cuz I thought of their relationship át first as a father daughter considering how he looked after her.
