Same, same! I'd like to critique more of the episodes, especially right before the exam for Geidai (where the mental back-and-forth in Yatora's mind is so raw and real), the bit at the seaside inn, and then the struggles of taking the exam. I'd love to listen to more of Ishidate-san's insights, both as a current practitioner of art, and as student who went through all the challenges of art school in Japan. I love the fact that she's confirming a lot of the realities that are highlighted in the series--I read somewhere that the mangaka completed his/her degree at Geidai, so it's amazing to note that the same culture has been perpetuated since his/her time then.

Tbh these feel too realistic, like hope, hype, and all spirit of motivated newbie at the beginning. Then the story progressed into more and more hardship being faced by yatora this lead to more twisted art perception that my smol brain can't comprehend anymore (especially when he starts going to college) yet presented in a great way. I often happy see yatora get new insight but this makes him realized another challenge appeared ahead. Overall this is a great series.

Yaa I wish she reacted to the later episodes tho, cause first one was just the excitement of art. Yatora starts feeling depressed and his art isn't good enough ect in later episodes and this is what most of the series is like.

The same happened to me. Watching this, I remembered how that particular scene elicited such a strong feeling from me. Blue Period is a very deep, honest, and real appreciation of what it means to discover something you want to commit to and how going through the highs and lows slowly transforms the inner workings of the heart and the mind as a creator and person. I wish we could get a Season 2; I'm caught up on the manga, and things have been a little slow for me since then. I'd love to see the continuation of the story animated!

As a former art student, I sometimes cry while I watch Blue Period. It's so good and heartfelt. It doesn't only represent art school stereotypes and info about the art world but it also delves deep inside the struggles, emotions, influences, and various paths of artists/designers when they enter the creative world/industry. And the best part, anyone can relate to the themes of the show whether you're an artist or not. They are universal and genuine. Really reflects one's journey in life as a whole esp when trying to discover oneself and reach goals. Kudos to the creators of both the manga and anime 💙 Can't wait for the next eps ✨ also, love the way she reviewed the show. Very insightful and concise 💖

Since watching Blue period, I was wondering if the progression of the main protagonist is shown in a realistic way, is it really possible to get so good at art in just a year or two? I started to draw myself, and I'm not sure what to expect, I get that I'm not an anime protagonist and I'm surely not as devoted as characters in the show, nevertheless I would love to see myself a year from now, being able to draw something and feel good about it.

Ever since high school, I realized I enjoyed drawing a lot and put my sweat and blood while sitting on the carpet with a foldable chair as my desk. One day, I showed it to a "family member" who used to be a art director, and he totally pointed so many flaws and told me I had to draw like him if I am ever going to get a job. So, I threw away my dream and worked towards practicality. I studied hard at subjects even though I hated it deep inside, I learned how to be positive with Law of Attraction and positive mindset and exercise habits. I landed a job at IT now while meeting someone special. That special someone realized that I am not a IT person, but an artist. Now, at 26, I'm spending every ounce of my free time to make art as career, as I always wanted to do. It feels like I have much to catch up, but I think it's doable! TL;DR: Don't throw away you dream for practically (money), it will hurt you in the long run as it has done to me. I obeyed, and I threw myself away. I'm now trying to unlearn what I unwillingly forced myself to learn.

blue period man, it's a series that really hurts. it tackles the problem that artists have always faced, but especially in the modern age. it's still hard to be an artist and to profit from it. art can be applied in many ways, but to just go to art school to be an artist is SUPER vague. and man blue period just gets so real in depicted thing strained relationships between the artists and art for all of the characters. it was so raw and unfiltered, man it makes you really understand if you aren't an artist

I'm an architect, so imma give you some advice for someone who already went through the wringer. If you want to practice architecture, don't forget to learn the BUSINESS side of it. Architecture school sets up a false expectation wherein everyone would become master architects, design their own projects, and whatnot. But thing is, it's a business. Unfortunately, due to the ungodly amount of subjects you would have to cover over the next 5 years, business management simply cannot be crammed into the curriculum. You would either have to learn the business side of things during your time as an apprentice, or do some studying on the side as soon as you can. Study some business management books, work summer jobs at an architecture firm, anything. That, and personality. Learn to become a likeable person. Principals of architecture firms are in the top seat not just because of their skills, but also their ability to ATTRACT CLIENTS. Learn to bring money into the company, and your position would be secured.

Would love to hear her insight on the entrance exam or prep school. As a college art student, Blue period really resonates with me especially when it comes to creating an art with a purpose. Though, Yatora is a fine arts major and I'm leaning more towards graphic design, it's all the same. You have to make a work with good composition as well as a compelling story. It's a struggle to birth out ideas every week only for it to be shut down by your professors. I remember we need to create 100 logos and symbols (+sketches and a term essay) in 2 weeks and getting harsh criticism from this one professor of mine. I've cried a few times watching the show because I've heard words I really wanted to hear lmao. Having to finally understand and relate to what an main character is going through (insecurities, physical health declining, and mental burnout) really helped me a lot. Since then I've been trying my best to create art every day.

As a graduate illustration major, this anime came at the right time for me who is personally overhauling their entire portfoilo. Whilst looking for industry work. I'm glad this came out, I could've used this as a gateway when i was in highschool. I hope we get more animes about college and graduates going about trials and tribulations of their art careers.

I'm an animation student and I relate so much to Blue Period's story. I also started from zero like Yaguchi and had to work my way into college and it was the most challenging thing I've ever done so far. I do hope they keep making this anime. The manga is fantastic.

Japanese art school seems a lot harder to get in than in the US...I went to Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) and the acceptance rate is around 30%. However, tuition is sooo expensive 😭Paying just 4k per year would be a dream! As this person said, going to art school is mostly about the environment, seeing your peers' work, and making connections. I can't say it's worth the price to be honest though

Yeahh I agree with her opinion, I started to know art more deeply and pursue it since I saw this blue period anime...Stories from the Blue period are closely related to everyday life, how the point of view of people who don't know about art, the difficulty of learning art, it's expensive for an art school and its equipment, and how do you make money from art. I hope the blue period anime gets season 2

I love her feedback and vibe. If she can review the middle episodes towards the end that would be great. I went to art school for 5 years and I 100% agree that art school is for self discovery and expanding your knowledge and skills. My art school was kind of useless but I taught myself digital art and others things because they had the equipment and resources. I only spent money on a drawing computer when I developed the interest of wanting to animate or draw digital art. BUT its not to help you find a job or get a job offer. My art school was shut down due to fraudulent activity, but the environment and the wide perspective it offered me, I will never forget.

I'm a self-taught artists so I don't think i have much say but it makes me happy cause i find that the struggles and emotions that i feel when i hone my art ard valid that it's not only me it made me wanna cry . My favorite was when he got shocked by the really good art i get easily discouraged and I beat my self alot for it makes me think that I'm shallow and not putting alot of work in so seeing that sort emotion is valid lifted some weight off my shoulders.
