Never understand why people label this as a toxic relationship. If you take out the criminal element and substitute it with a skill like singing, painting or job ambition. Rio is the most attentive, supportive partner a woman could have. He's not threatened by her strength, proud of her successes, really sees her for her not who she pretends to be, with jo judgement. Not to mention makes her weak in the knees. Unconventional, yes. Toxic, not so much.

Agree! If you remove the crime element then there’s no reason for him to kidnap Annie 😅 and it’s a really good relationship. In a normal scenario with a normal job, it wouldn’t make sense for him to kidnap Annie for those who’re saying he kidnaps. Rio sees Beth for who she is, gives her opportunities and even multiple chances to make it right.

Funny about this series is that Rio never hit her nor cursed at her even if she tried to kill him and put him to jail. I think the first time he went at Beth's and even taught her kids math, he already was attracted to her. Remember Rio didn't have a mom, he was raised by his big boss his grandma and Rio had witnessed Beth being a good mom to her kids, even wanting to have a paternity tests Bec he really wanted to have a stronger reason for him to keep her.

I think that's why her husband tried to be decent when he saw how they interacted and how Rio could take Beth from him if Rio wanted. God damn Rio is fine as hell also. I think once they met it was this bumpy, passion filled journey to each other and who they were suppose to be but both fought hard to deny the hold they had on each other and the audience was introduced to their seperate beginnings and why it was so hard for them to finally accept and submit to each other in the end, on that bench in the they just sat next to each other finally at peace with being and working together, finally trusting each other, that was the point, both together no longer lonely at the top

When she realized Rio was also a pawn they made a deal with each other to take care of their common enemy (the head boss/brousin) and work together. Dean wanted the old Beth back but in the end she chose to stay in Detroit and let him go, bc she didn't want to go back. So technically she ends up with Rio bc he accepted her fully even as his boss pulling the strings which Dean could never do. And from his hair stroke at the end he's gonna convince her to be romantic with him again like before.

I think it's quite interesting how Beth deflects any guilt whatsoever, no matter how much she's knowingly involved and knee-deep into shit. Dean used to do the same (notably in the two first seasons), but in a more casual and overt manner; she seemed to hate him for it, for never taking any responsibility despite being the one to blame. And YET. It is almost like she's compensating for having had to take the blame during her marriage to carman by doing the same thing to Rio. Or maybe Beth is just emulating the dynamic she had with the only other man she has ever been romantically involved with, on a subconscious attempt to make Rio stay as she did in the past. In either case, I will miss this bastard on bastard drama. RIP Good Girls.
