I wonder if it wasn't also just used as a description of environmental and agricultural situations. All those Guineas, even though they're clearly not the same place. West Indies, India, East Indies, they're all warm moist regions suited to growing sugar and other agricultural products rarely not native to Europe.

@@fallingphoenix2341 I don't think so since other companies like a Flemish one set up colonies in North America, and another one the African coast. They where merged and turned into the west India company and the Dutch prime minister used there skills to create the East Indies company
