​@@corinthiansdaniels3728 the nice once that don't murder anything and anyone they can. Cats are psychopaths that enjoy killing things not just for food like a normal predator. And they unlike dogs can and do think for themselves, they know their names and that you are calling for them but they will come to you when and if they choose to do so! And my cat was the nicest and sweetest one I have seen or heard about but still a psychopathic killer that was really upset with me not being able or willing to murder things that were getting on our nerves (actually just unwilling, I'm pretty sure I could end all the asshole neighbours but if I tried and for some I think that would be a good deed in general) So uplifting cats sounds like a really bad idea, of the what's the worst that could happen (the end of mankind) type! 😂 Also I think that we would start with primates given that they are more closely related to us and have hands that are usable for doing stuff, dogs will need a total makeover not just a bigger brain, whales have bigger and more complex brains ( and probably language on the level of human ones) then us but couldn't make or use technology, so it's not just about intelligence but also having the ability to make the things that you imagine - hands or something that serves that function, dogs don't have anything like that chimpanzees do! But they are also quite a bad idea to uplift and let loose giving their level of aggression and how strong they are...

@@vladimirmihnev9702 Then you know little about wild dogs. Dogs do not necessarily kill their prey before eating, especially large prey, and that includes wolves. There are many verified reports of wolves beginning to eat large prey before it is dead. VERIFIED. not second hand, but actually verified and properly documented (and in many cases filmed) proof. The real point though is we humans did not actually domesticate cats, they just kind of moved in at around the same time as we humans started farming and building places in which to store grain. This attracted rodents, and the human presence kept the majority of the cats natural predators away. So they just kind of moved in and never went away. I do however most definitely agree with you that if we had the capability we would have to think *very* carefully about what animals we decide to uplift, and why. Would it be fair for example to uplift dogs and cats, but have them remain permanently reliant on us?

I mean, even if he was just a dog, probably would have still been an animal. When you have a dog in the military, they are always a higher rank than their handler, without fail, and likely higher rank than their entire squad or platoon. This is so that they can bring down the harshest punishments down on anyone who abuses said dog, as any abuse towards the dog classifies as "Assaulting a superior officer."

Based on the description of the tattoo, I knew that this was the EGA and those people where Marines. Since they were placed there as bait for the player, I assume they were given orders to take on a lax appearance, to appear less assuming. But I knew how it would end.

Every dead was "resurrected" until the final game where all deaths where permanent and the survivors brought back stories of fighting for the gods.

Physical Book/E book, as someone rightfully stated it was Ranks of Bronze by David Drake. There is a follow up called the Excalibur Alternative, which has the same aliens abducting a 14th Century English Army (complete with longbows) for the same purpose. Been a while since I read them, but no they are not web novels. EDIT: Well... same species of Aliens anyway, the original abductors kind of did not survive.....

No, this is just a species taking sick delight at making other races play out their games

In my mind, it was basically aliens getting a sick kick out of playing something like squidgame mixed with chess on a galactic scale. They basically subjugated other species and made them into slaves, "pawns", to play under the leaders, "kings/game masters". Any species or people who refuse to "play" are threatened with death or some kind of inhumane punishment. Then they found human explorers at some point probably at the edge of human space and forced them to participate. Humans went "hell naw I ain't playing by your rules" and started finding ways around the "games" rules to covertly ally with other subjugated species in order to stall for time. The aliens didn't realize some humans managed to get away from that first encounter and warn the rest of humanity. However, it took a while for humanity as a whole to pinpoint where the aliens territory actually was. And by the time they did months or perhaps years had passed by the sounds of it.
