I ended up buying this because I really struggled to find something else on the market that offered the same features in a tidy package, plus it sounds great in this demo! By the way, because I can't recall any demo mentioning it, and finding this out lead to me finally buying it, you can control how many presets there are, so this can be setup like a two channel amp!

Hey! I'm loving all your videos and I was wondering if you tried any of the settings of the Neuron with bowed strings. I play an elec violin and cello and I find it so hard to really get a feel for what pedals will sound like with sustained bowing. I've tried them with some distortion pedals and they can work but fuzz pedals can totally ruin the sound. The Neuron seems like it could handle something like this and I love the sounds you captured. Great stuff and keep up all the videos!

Setting up a new board with some pitch shifters (whammy dt, freqout, ps5) into a zoom g9 multi fx that i use for modeling into a pa ad well as using its midi pedal cc’s for my keyboard. In the send/return i have a waza craft metal zone and a keeley synth1. Still love the metal zone since there arent many drives that allow you to set a Q to boost/cut to find a sweet spot. The sculpting on this neuron looks more craftable than most drives. I feel like theres many amazing distortions but they all basically have just a mid level, if even. That plus the tilt parameter and presets is making this look like a winner for me.

I was looking for a preamp pedal to replace the Mooer Preamp Live on my pedalboard. The Mooer is pretty good but it's huge and I don't even use its switches since I use a loop/midi switcher. The Neunaber Neuron seems to have all the features I need, apart from not being an IR loader unlike the Mooer, but I was already thinking about buying a separate stereo IR loader (thinking about the awesomely cheap Flamma CAB/IR Loader) paired with a TC Electronic MimiQ to simulate double tracking for rhythm parts. And, by hearing the sounds the Neuron is capable of, I'm already sold on it. This is for sure on my bucket list for the near future. Thanks for the awesome review!

At about 8:28, you mention how you don't "completely feel the medium gain crunch tones." That's an important aspect for me as well. So I'm wondering what pedal/ effect you might add to the Neuron to make-up for it? Also, what's a pedal that you would say nails that quality? Currently rebuilding my drive section (have started with a Plumes) and also setting up to record/play silently at home, so any insight helps. As a big fan of all things mid-range- totally dug the cab sims you chose in this video. Great job as usual!

It's two very different pedals. G4 is aimed at giving you some classic hard rock tones, but can also be tamed for slightly lower gain sounds if you plug a low output guitar into it. But G4 is a dirt box at its core. Neuron is a full-on pre-amp, which can do everything from clean to ultra high-gain, and you can use it as a stand-alone recording solution with its built-in speaker sim. It all depends on what you need really. A distortion pedal or a versatile pre-amp?

I don't know what to think anymore!!! Please tell me it's not right!!!
@thepedalzone5 жыл бұрын
Hey, man! Happy to have you here. I'm stoked to hear you find my videos helpful and that they resonate with your own style of playing and sound designing. In regards to the Neuron's sound, if you like how it sounds here, then you'll like how it sounds when you get it. Pedals aren't designed to please everybody. Some people won't like this pedal, just like there's people that don't like Tubescreamers. Drive and distortion are a very personal thing, even more so than reverb and delay. So I can't fault the guy in his feelings. If he feels that it doesn't sound right to him, then it doesn't sound right to him. It sounds and feels right to me though. To sum up, gear and tone is subjective. Always trust your own ears, and always see words on the internet as personal opinions and not facts 😊👍

Great job. Question. If I was attempting to use the sim cabinet setting however trying to “cleanly distort” with this pedal as well, what settings would you suggest? I was trying to avoid buying a distortion pedal and figured maybe I could create it with this pedal. I’m actually an acoustic guitarist that uses a great acoustic amp, however not ideal to distort. I plan to use distortion subtly via a magnetic pick up. I have a second dual pick up that will be kept clean running through a separate channel. I was told to try using a sim cab and so I thought of this one as I believe it can add some form of distortion correct? Suggestions?
@thepedalzone4 жыл бұрын
Yes, it can add distortion. Did you watch the demo? Lot of examples of low-gain and high-gain tones. For a low-gain "clean distortion", then set the gain around 10 o'clock, and set the rest of the controls to taste 👍

Are these od sounds better than say the Helix ones?
@thepedalzone5 жыл бұрын
I don't know. Haven't tried the Helix. But the OD sounds in the Neuron are amazing.

Soo, not fond of the medium gain but you like it's high gain?
@thepedalzone5 жыл бұрын
Yes. I love Its high gain tones. Some of the best I’ve heard from a pedal.
@jaychen2000metal5 жыл бұрын
I wanna hear this vs the evh and a revv g3/g4 👍 and do we even need medium gain? 😄
@musicandthewalk5 жыл бұрын
Hey can you comment on how dynamic the pedal is?
@thepedalzone5 жыл бұрын
Very dynamic. Just as responsive as any analog drive pedal or amp out there.
@musicandthewalk5 жыл бұрын
Cool man. I wonder why chords of orion mentioned that its not dynamic and doesnt react to the volume knob

is there a reason you always plug your guitar into the tremolo channel of your amp?
@thepedalzone5 жыл бұрын
I like that channel. That's why ☺👍

This would be the Ultimate pedal if it had an IR loader in it. Edit: I bought one anyway.
@thepedalzone5 жыл бұрын
Happy you got one. It's a great and versatile pedal

is it weird that when he went to test out it's high gain capabilities it sounded like Underoath
@thepedalzone5 жыл бұрын
Why should that be weird? Underoath are awesome 😊🤘

Almost sounded like Stiff little fingers at 1:56

Okay. Never heard about them before... But my littlefinger does feel stiff from time to time 😂

ThePedalZone interesting Nick Drake used this tuning I think. Need a video about your tunings.

He sure did. That's why it's more commonly known as the Nick Drake tuning 😊

Hi if i use neunaber neuron to amp fx return with delay and reverb placed after neuron could it be sounds right? I use another preamp ( victory v4 ) and place zoom ms50g after it to my ceriatone head fx return and it don't sounds right. Because delay and reverb must plugged into both send and return of my amp's fx loop.

Hi! great sound, so metal lol Stefan! a question... for a delay you'll prefer a Polymoon or a Timeline for make weird things?
@thepedalzone5 жыл бұрын
Thanks, man! Yeah, I can "riff" if I need to, I guess 😂 I would personally go for the Polymoon when it comes to experimental textures. So many sounds in that little box of wonders.

if youre gonna do high gain with the JMJM then you need to mute the strings at the headstock and bridge, lots of sympathetic ringing from them. Great sound otherwise tho!
@thepedalzone5 жыл бұрын
I love the sympathetic ringing. It's the charm of Jazzmasters to me 👍
@rickc21025 жыл бұрын
@@thepedalzone with its floating trem system, is the whole jm thrown slightly out of tune when you do the drop-D bits?
@thepedalzone5 жыл бұрын
My Jazzmaster is tuned to C. I think it handles that tuning really well.
@unoaotroa5 жыл бұрын
Dude, that's what makes some guitars sound magical. Sympathetic ringing is a plus in my book.

Hahahaha!!! Okay... I’m sure you can find a channel out there to satisfy your need for the spoken word some more. I try to let the pedal and the music it inspires speak for itself. Have a great day
