First, you playing is so awesome. So fluid with great phrasing. It makes so much fun to listen to you. Sometimes a bit missleading because also not so good pedals or amps can sound good under your fingers ;-) I know the excellent sounding neunaber pedals. But the Neuron didn't interest me somehow. Now I am very surprised how good it sounds. Very dynamic. Great demo.

Wonderful demo, great sound! The only thing I would have expected from a company like Neunaber was a control to choose between a number of different gain styles. If they'd done that, this would have been a no brainer for me, because there are a lot of different sounds from well known and lesser known gain pedals that I really love, but would only use one or two times during a set. So with 6 presets, I could actually use this pedal in so many ways. Now I know there are pedals that can do that, but (A) they're just not that good, (B), they're too big, or (C) they're actually multi effect processors, which is a completely different thing and much more expensive than this beauty.

It always freaks me out though because it weighs almost nothing and when you open it up for a look the chip look spells heartbreak for an old man...Hahahahahahaa. I wanted to like this pedal so badly, but just couldn't get it dialed in. Since each knob has dual functions, you can't really see where the secondary function is set. I felt like every time I started getting close to the tone Ibwas after, I'd adjust something and it was gone. They really need an app to highlight the secondary settings.

I was blown away with the eq section the range was huge. So this thing can be 24 different pedals with a midi controller. How would you compare it to some of your favorite pedals like the J. rockets you use or the Pettyjohn pedals by that I mean just the basic quality of the sounds it gets.

Kaluna ? Sinvertek ? Neuron ? What would you suggest to play jazz-fusion and progressive-metal ? Neuron seems to have the best saturation sound and the integrated compressor seems a plus, and 6 preset a plus plus .... Personnaly I'm used to control gain with guitar volume but for this I need to find the good pedal , and compressor helps way to control gain this a lot. So if money is not a problem, what would you say ? I also saw your Friedman Small test, you seems to know everything so your advice is important, thank for your time and happy new year.
@ShawnTubbs4 жыл бұрын
I think the Neuron would be best for you in my opinion. The Kaluna, though it's a great OD, may not have enough of a saturated feel for you. The Friedman Smallbox is excellent but it won't have enough gain.

It does take other pedals well but I only tried some lower gain OD, and boost pedals in front of it.

Hi Shawn. I hope you are well. Quick question. Are you still using your Apogee quartet as your interface? Are you considering another interface? The reason I ask is that the sound of your recordings and of course your playing is truly incredible and so inspiring. Thank you kindly for your videos, especially during this most challenging time. You claim you are not savvy with music theory, however, there is no music theory book on the planet that can teach anyone how to phrase and effectively employ the feel that you achieve. Cheers Shawn.
