Hi Pete - as always, I'm just in awe of your playing! You just nail it every time for the gear you're demonstrating. Thanks in good part to your demo, I've just bought the pedal direct from Neunaber. I haven't had a chance to try it yet, but I just think their customer service deserves a shout-out! First off - Brian Neunaber thanked me personally for my order! And then his sales team double-checked that I realised I'd have to pay tax at my end and offered to refund the order if I'd overlooked it! That is just outstanding in today's "grab the money and run" society and speaks volumes for a company that cares about its customers. Keep 'em coming - Rowan

My friend does and raves about this pedal and says the consistency in output is remarkable regardless of what it is sent to and pairs extremely well with effects(echo...this demo covers that, reverb, and great for even nailing Gilmour-esque '90s thru '16 material with it coming before straight chorus at around 40%).

Great review! I really like how it has so much for a very compact pedal. I have a question however. I like running a TS in front of the amp. If you use the neuron as a preamp, you plug it into the fx loop right? But if I have a ts before the neuron, would it react the same way as an actual amp would with a TS in front of it?

@SpiritCrusher892 жыл бұрын
Hi Pete, fantastic job with the review, as usual, thanks! However, there is one thing I wasn't able to understand about the pedal: is there any lag when switching from a preset to another (both using the switch and via MIDI)? If so, how much is it? I'm looking for a preamp pedal that is able to (almost)seamlessly switch from a clean tone to a high gain or an ovedriven one via MIDI, I play Opeth style songs and I need a pedal that is capable of keeping up with the fast changes between clean and distorted. Thanks again!

Hi pete can we put delay and reverb pedal after neuron and then going into fx return of an amp? In my experience it's not gonna sounds right because delay and reverb must plugged into both send and return of the amp.

of course you can. the send is your amp's preamp section. that gets replaced bey the neuron. so it works just fine.

Hello Pete and thank you for all the great videos you offer to us all! Really helpful. I have only one question for you, I need some advice. Which pedals or multi effects units would you take to a live gig, if you needed to go direct to PA? And can I still connect my pedal board? My main goals are simplicity in use and good tone (clean and dirty) that will return to my IEMs. No space for amp snd cab. I would really appreciate your knowledge and experience. Thank you in advance!
@PeteThorn5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Anty! If you want to go direct, I have had good success and results with all the usual suspects- Helix, Axe FX, Kemper, Headrush. It’s like trying to pick between a Mercedes or a BMW or a Lexus. They all do the job really well at this point and it’s just the little things/differences that will help you determine what one is right for you.

Love your demos but I often come away wishing at some point in them you would demo the pedals with a MIM strat into a basic amp... $8000 worth of high end supporting gear to demo pedals isn't giving the average player a realistic idea of what that will sound like when they use it. You should have an "average guy" demo rig : )
@2Plus2isChicken20135 жыл бұрын
It would more than likely still sound great. I get great tones using my old MIM Strat with stock pickups into a Quilter Interblock 45, a $200 solid state amp. There are good sounds for a budget in today's world.
@PeteThorn5 жыл бұрын
What about the part where I’m just running it direct? That would cost nothing more than the pedal- And running into a matrix isn’t expensive - those don’t cost a lot. And I do use my bassman in vids, it cost me $300. I have thought about picking up a combo amp that’s cheap, to use in one part of the videos.

@@Natesmitguitar All pedals are coming more and more expensive. A preamp pedal for $300.00 seems like a lot to me. As the value of the dollar goes down the prices keep going up. In 2000 the dollar bought a lot more than it does now.
@Natesmitguitar5 жыл бұрын
TheseusTitan Well, there’s this thing called ‘inflation’...lol. The way I look at it is that this is not a pedal. It’s a pedal-format preamp - the tone section of an amp. One can buy a decent tube amp for $700, which is the preamp and power amp in one unit. So when I see this with all its functionality and capability for $300 and it sounds dang good, I’m not at all surprised that it’s $300. The price is not anything to balk at, in my opinion.
