It is exactly the same in Sweden. I know a journalist and we bumped into each other in the store and came to talk about the Ukraine conflict and my comment was similar to this NZ journalist. The reaction I got surprised me. He told me I was basically a victim of propaganda and then he repeated the Pentagon version. I was surprised that a journalist working for one of the biggest newspapers in the country was so misinformed. That was my comment. After that I have seen the news in Sweden and its absurdly low-level and pure Pentagon propaganda. I am 69 and have never experienced this level of disinformation by the established media before. I also take part of information from different countries and it is the same there. People lose their jobs, are detained, their electronics are confiscated and they themselves are being charged under some Terrorist act or law. They are scared of their own citizens and are now trying to silence people. We live in really dark times and its getting darker still.

@@ralphbernhard1757 There isn't even any need to say it out loud, it is just 'understood'. As recently seen with Mr. Hall. The same mechanism works in many other areas of modern society. Having to big a mouth have 'consequences'.

Mich Hall what happened to you is horrible, disgraceful and has no place in the modern day media, but the powers that be have decided to silence the truth especially if it isn't favorable to them. Keep on being who you are for the truth can't be suppressed for long,it's just a matter of time.wishing you all the best sir.

Well written Mr. Hall. Hopefully you will be employable again, along with the dozens or hundreds of your colleagues who have had the same fate recently. Just remember how mortally dangerous journalism has become in the last few decades. We should find this unacceptable but that word has been worn out by the state dept now.

This is what we need. More people of conscience in journalism. Sadly many can’t because of financial constraints. This fellow is a hero but unfortunately is probably paying the price for his good conscience and honesty. This is the world we are currently lumbered with . Use your critical thinking is our only defence.

@@svenhanson398 I'll be accused of heresy but.... journalists are just paid storytellers. They aren't arbiters of "TRUTH". I'm not impugning Mr Hall, just observing his 'profession'. How & why journos got placed on some pedestal is just amazing. Looking back at 19th C newspapers in the US, is shocking. Journos were just hacks who could turn out a good story.....regardless of veracity. Railroad barons owned friendly newspapers as did any number of other businesses. Mr. Hall's managers and corporate masters simply slapped him down and revealed to us all that the media is a vehicle used by powerful economic interest to shape opinions. But all that is not a harbinger of The West falling. Was photo brushing out people in Soviet history books a sign that Stalin's Russia was failing? No, it was just a tactic of control and manipulation
