@OnlyFans Sucks Susan is the best example of why you should absolutely NOT give a former marketer the position of CEO. And I say this even though marketing is one of my dream jobs. As soon as Susan was in charge, KZbin's primary focus became increasing its marketability instead of delivering quality content or encouraging creativity. Susan's loyalty lies with the advertisers and not with the audience or content creators that actually made KZbin grow in the first place.

With regard to roles where you scream, I highly recommend looking into learning how to create those raw sounds in a safe way. I like a lot of metal, hardcore, screamo type stuff (bands like The Blood Brothers, Jinjer, Vektor, iwrestledabearonce, etc) and also have been singing most of my life. I taught myself how to scream and later found videos from vocal coaches on how to safely do it and found I had correctly figured out how to do it. There are way more resources available teaching these techniques now than there were 15 years ago when I learned how to do it. I think it would be a good skill for voice actors to learn. It will keep your voice healthy and make it so it doesn't take so much out of you during a long session. There are at least 2 different methods I am aware of producing slightly different tones/timbres. I hope you and anyone else interested in voice acting or music look into this if you haven't already. There is a right and wrong way to do it. Even if you don't need a blood curdling scream, the technique can be applied to create different voices and sounds (the chain smoker, the beast man, the evil lich, the demon monster, etc). Protect your voice! Plus screaming is really fun =)

7:04 For me, I think the most immediate sign you're an introvert is this: You're not very energetic around strangers, but whenever you've been your most energetic, with your best friends, you feel like you've had enough social interaction for the day after the fact. If after being with friends, you have more energy and want to talk to more people, you might be an ambivert or extrovert, though not all introverts will relate to this either. I just feel like, if you relate to that and aren't misinterpreting it, you're an absolute top-tier introvert.

I mean, an introvert can be exactly that; someone who loves being with their friends, and will absolutely talk for hours if they want to, but can get drained after a while. Introversion isn't the same as shyness or social awkwardness, it just means you don't necessarily need the company of others to validate yourself. I've always heard it said that introverts are like rechargeable batteries and extroverts are like solar panels. They both give the same energy, but some of them need to hide away after a while, and some of them can only function when they've got energy around them. Neither is 'the best,' it's just who we are.

Its unfortunate to me when people talk about DnD combat being boring, when they follow it up by saying they like the RP, because to me that is more indivtive of the DM or group than the game. The combat can have just as much RP as non combat, but a lot of people play by the rules to the letter, or treat it like a board game. Which can be fun too if you really go hard into the tactical element but, a RP heavy group could make combat also very theatrical and such. I know SungWon has already played it but for those who like the elements of DnD, but not the RP and prefer board games, Gloomhaven is incredible for that. Its pricey but worth the 100s of hours you can put into it.

I'm about to graduate with a musical theatre degree, but I'm really interested in doing voiceover work for games and anime. For someone who's had all their training in theatre, the prospect of not having access to your scene partners' lines is kind of terrifying, haha. Is there a reason why it's done this way? Is it ever possible to request access to the full scene?
@freedomsflame6882 жыл бұрын
I imagine it's an efficiency thing. Hiring voice actors (particularly famous ones) is expensive, and with that sheer volume of dialogue necessary you don't want to waste any time in the booth. Since you're recording all the lines in one go, that's why the delivery on voiced lines in games often tonally clash with the scene.
@michaelleue75942 жыл бұрын
Outside of cutscenes, most dialogue isn't delivered in a continuous conversation, so it probably mostly seems like a waste to record it that way when the overhead is much higher. I have actually done a tiny amount of voice acting, including one scene where it was 6 people in the booth at once, and it does come out more genuine, but also it's just an enormously more complicated experience.
@halcyonacoustic73662 жыл бұрын
Basically the voice director knows the scene and knows what they want most of the time.
@jirorororo2 жыл бұрын
For video games, especially nonlinear ones, some dialogue can be situational (say : a scene that might change depending on your game progression, or if a character is still alive or not, et cetera), just stuff for generic voice lines, and so many other conditional stuff that I'd imagine would be difficult (combined with its generally large script size) to provide context for each and every line.

Regarding Zero Escape: the first two games are available on Steam in a collection called _The Nonary Games._ The first game, _999: 9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors,_ was specifically made for the Nintendo DS, so it loses a little something being forced into a single screen. But the remake does have voice acting, and it's faster to get to all the endings. The second game, _Virtue's Last Reward,_ was made for 3DS and PS Vita, so I assume it works fine on one screen. The 3DS/Vita versions had a really nasty glitch related to saving in puzzle rooms. I assume they fixed it for the _Nonary Games_ rerelease, but I haven't gotten around to playing this version, and even if I had, I guarantee I'll never be brave enough to check. The third game, _Zero Time Dilemma,_ is not as well-liked as the first two, but they set such an extremely high bar that it's difficult for me to tell if it's actually bad or if it just didn't live up to my expectations. I liked it overall, even if I do still have some questions.

So, here's the thing: I'm not into board games, animes, or VO, and most of the time I don't know what you're talking about. But somehow I find myself watching your videos again and again. That's an achievement, SungWon :D

That's too bad about D&D. You seem like you could be a lot of fun to play with. But as I say, to each his own, and good on ya for doing what you like.

For voice acting, do you usually get paid a pre-negotiated amount, by the hour, by session, or per voice line, and how much would one of those game excel sheets with voice lines cost a game developer to have recorded by you? 🙂

I know I'm not the person you expected to answer the first part of your question, but video games are my field of study, so I can say that from what I learned, voice actors are typically paid by the hour, and if they're part of the guild, then that time is typically more expensive than non-guild work. Also, the guild has a limit of 3 characters per actor and if you want them to do more, then it costs extra, but writers have figured out that they can work around that by making character names generic.

@@papercraftcynder5430 Interesting! I appreciate the answer! 😊

The idea of experiencing something for the first time is wrong from the outset. People want to re-capture the feeling they had when they first saw something, the problem is the person you are isn't the person you were back then, so even if you could- your reaction will be different, it might even be negative

This is how I imagine meeting sungwun would be like Fan: oh hey aren't you prozd from KZbin? Sungwun: yeah that's me heh Fan: omg can I have an autograph? Sungwun: oh sure Fan: King dragon is my favorite character Sungwun: oh thanks, I'm glad you like him :) That's just kind of how I see an interaction with him going I never thought he would be some like crazy over excited spontaneous KZbinr He's just some guy that likes to play games, nerd out to anime, and do voiceovers who occasionally makes random content for KZbin
