It's funny cause the skateboard culture has always been judgmental of outsiders and "posers". I use to not even go skate at my local park when I was 14 cause the older kids were so intimidating and i knew i wasnt good enough for them to consider me as one of them. So i understand why you feel that way. Luckily, with what revive does and with the boom of KZbin into mainstream culture, things in the world of skateboarding are friendlier than ever. I think what it is is how skateboarding has always been sort of a rebellious type of thing in its roots, hence why the stereotype of a skater is generally a negative image. But really if you're passionate about skating and you take it seriously and you want to be better and Progress Daily, then you'll be respected. The main thing that defines a poser is someone who skates but doesnt skate for the love of it, but to look cool or get girls or some other mundane thing.

Not from my experience. When you think about it everybody started out the same way. So they can’t really judge you for not being good. But if you don’t skate and you’re just buying a bunch of thrasher and supreme then they might call you a poser

it may also be that people who work there are young and not really have had real experience dealing with customers and I get it. But if you really don't like how you are being treated, take the info. they have shared and spend your money elsewhere, where you feel that you are being valued as a customer.

U r being judged, i show how i could care less about em. Ill ignore em on a certain sales pitch n instantly ask questions to show them im in control and ill only give them as much info as i want. Then move without hesitation, tell em grip ur board say thank you and walk out.

Nah it’s a skate shop, they sell trucks, wheels, decks, bearings, etc, the only thing that really makes them different is that they sell more clothes than your average skate shop and they’re a chain

Well a crooked ollie is just that. A rocketed ollie means you're not lifting your back foot up high enough. Likely when you do lift it high enough you're not keeping your body straight with the board, resulting in a crooked ollie. Mine are tweaked but I just started skating again after like 7 years of not skating.

My local shops when they weren't so popular (Cowtown) used to always keep spare decks. Like the workers there would bring their old boards in and local skaters used to do the same. There used to always be a stack of spares that if people needed one, they could get. It's been awhile since i been to cowtown so im not sure if they still do it but i remember back in the day there used to always be that stack there. As the shops grew they stopped having as much and then I kind of got out of the skate scene.

There aren't any local skateshops where I live so we pretty much just have to order online or go to zumiez. However, the people that work at the zumiez here all do skate or at least longboard and i've skated with a couple of them. The whole skating scene in my area is pretty small so everyone really knows everyone which is nice.

My local skate shop is an indoor skateboard park XD The second one is just a normal outdoor shop that happens to sell skateboards. They also sell diabolos so you can look like a skater from the 1970s

I really felt judged walking into a skate shop. A 5’0 lil black girl I really didn’t feel like I belong. I told the guy I was totally new to this and he started giving me the most expensive trucks, board and what not telling me that I’d “need it” to be a good skater. It seemed really shady in my opinion and I felt hella out of place so I said thanks but no thanks and just let me already experienced skater friend take me to one of his shops and pick out some good but not expensive stuff for me
