I like your set up. I have a good amount of tools, more than a typical homeowner and I’ll be honest, I don’t have half of what you used to make this. Nice set up but onto the next video for a more common tools and supplies.

There are a couple drawbacks to this project: First, in our town, yard waste is not permitted in the waste recepticals owned by the waste company. Second, retrofitting your collection system to THEIR receptical will possibly get your receptical taken away from you and then you will be trying to find a place to put your stinky cat poo, along with your leaves. My suggestion, use your own waste recepical and start a compost pile to use yourself or give to a gardener. The idea is great, just my two cents worth.

Nifty and a cool solution, nothing better than using a bit of brainpower in order to avoid having to break your back raking leaves. Austin Coulson says hi by the way :)

I built this but the cutting deck pipe kept clogging just after a minute of mowing. The mower blades didnt produce enough PUSHED AIR force for THE LEAVES to go UP the pipe and INTO the bin. After a minute of mowing it would clog at the bottom of the hose where it is connected to the cutting deck. Maybe I need to change to blades with higher backs on them🙄?
@VinyB573 жыл бұрын
Was it for leaves or grass or both? Because it as it's limitation if you have to much material to pull up. Low speed can help..🤷♂️
@MasonsCustomPC3 жыл бұрын
I commented on the Mk1 video about this issue, High-Lift Blades could solve the clogging issue. They are specifically designed to move clippings and leaves into the bagging systems.

Drive skow, raise the blade height and make sure the leaves/grass is dry..

Do you think a diy setup like this would also be able to pick up grass clippings when cutting the grass? Probably a dumb question but leaves are lightweight compared to thick grass
@VinyB573 жыл бұрын
Not a dumb question and yes it will pick up grass just like leaves! 👍

Bagger is permanently out of stock for my mower, and they would want $350 besides. All the clippings would end up in my brown bin anyway... making this next weekend, it's just better all around!

i built a similar system in 2022, but being in Estonia, my leaves all 'always' wet and they block up the hose, so i went to a bag system, which still is blocking. I am thinking of now trialling a fish net idea with some bracing to keep the neck open for about 1m, but i think it will only work a little as a the leaves wet. Any ideas?

Did you consider having a can/bin/tub mounted on the back of the mower so you didn’t have to worry about turning or reversing etc ?

Not for now, since my lawn is pretty big, the bigger, the better!

Was thinking this myself would need to build a bracket. But I'm thinking and need to test... The Zamboni method for cutting may eliminate most of not all my reversing and allow for wide enough turns. I have one area that might pose an issue

NIce job! I have an MTD 42"mower. Bought the plastic bagging piece that attaches (bolts) to the mower deck. Made a leaf bag from a 6x8 tarp. and fastened it to the MTD piece. Drags the bag along and works great. Plenty of videos how to make the bag.
