He sings harmony in the opening verses. There are a lot of old songs where Chester is solo. Go back and listen. Real LP fans know this.

Emily died in the initial crash and she was a ghost from there on out. Think Sixth Sense great vocal showcase for Emily, nice change of pace.

Love the song - and what you said before it. Thank you for a solid reaction. Mike has mentioned that this song was written before they brought Emily in, originally written for him to sing (hence no screams), but after Emily sang it, they were like... whoa, that's it. In context of the album, it's a prelude/intro to Casualty, the heaviest song on the record (and the band's favourite) - seeing as it ends with a casualty, that tracks well. I think it's most similar to Friendly Fire (a song about fighting with your loved ones) And yeah, Emily is gay (and 5'11") lol... the girl in the video is just an actress though, not really her girlfriend.

Loved the reaction. Earned a subscription for saying what the fans have been saying for weeks now. Yes Emily is gay. This video was shot by Mr Han and Emily after the South Korea concert. So extras and others were all South Korean actors/actresses. Mike stated that this was written before Emily joined up with Mike singing the whole song, they gave her the lead after hearing her sing it. This song also leads into the next on the album called "Casulity"... which is stated to be a screamer [listen to album version. Mike says at the end " You got it, Get your screaming pants on"

In the story told in the video, Emily dies in the accident. If you look, the paramedics arrive but never interact with her, when that would be the first thing they would have done if she were really there.

I really appreciated your comments at the beginning. It's fine if people don't want to listen to the new stuff. It's not fine for them to make Emily the target of their hate. I love her voice and I think she's doing the most incredible job under difficult circumstances.

Thank god finally a unbiased opinion People need to stop comparing Emily to Chester, as much as i miss Chester he's not here anymore and the bands needs to move on which they did Emily is so fucking good people keep hating her just because shes not Chester And this is not "old Linkin park" neither was one more light album, one more light is personally my favourite album even though it is not metal music it had a really deep message and i hope Linkin park continues doing whatever they want instead of just making songs for "fans"
@maartenlaeremans45682 ай бұрын
I wouldn’t call him unbiased. He clearly has an opinion. He calls people dumb dumbs who don’t like Emily in Linkin Park. And they have every right to. That being said, I don’t agree with them at all. I love that Emily is part of Linkin Park. She’s obviously talented, passionate, and she was funny in at least one video I saw of her. And also: Chesters is gone. It’s time people start to accept it and show that at least they care about the wellbeing of the other members. Final remark: the band would lose the rights to their own music if they changed the name of the band and might lose fans as well.

"Who's calling you?" Emily: "It's Mike Shinoda" "You could have picked up" ...and there's a row ;) ... Seriously though, I've listened to this song many times and I love it. Its on my playlist also :) As a long-time and 50-year-old Linkin Park fan, I'm glad my favorite band is back and together with Emily's wonderful voice we can experience emotions and feelings again! #LinkinPark #OverEachOther #EmilyArmstrong #MikeShinoda #MrHanh #LinkinParkFan

Mr Hahn directed it and they filmed in Korea and wanted to make it like a Korean TV drama w a dramatic twist. So that's why you only realize it's Emily the whole time who was dead

According to Colin, new LP drummer, he is 6'1" and the tallest in the band. Emily and someone else, maybe Brad were about the same height, he guessed around 5'10". Really appreciate your comments before the video regarding LP and Emily and letting go of the past and letting the band live their lives. Liked and Subscribed.

Joe Mr Hanh directed this video, he wanted a concept of k-drama, the scenario starts with a opening of a car crash, followed by Emiliy waking up, fast forward to the scene before the crash, goes to the rest stop, gets into an argument with her girlfriend over a shady phone call /number( girlfriend reacting : who's that...are you stepping out on me?,...) Emiliy still trying to explain/reasoning on the way to the car, both get in still arguing. Guys never argue while driving it,s very Distracting and Dangerous you cannot concentrate on the road might end up killing yourself or seriously kill or causing a very bad accident to the other driver who might be in a car with familiy, Bad move gets into a crash then here we are. FYI Sixth Sense vibe , notice everyone ignoring her, last few verse , I want to see your side. It ends with Emiliy standing and looking at the ambulance going off carrying her girlfriend. Great Video, it lets Emiliy showcase her vocal range and to the haters, she is not Chester, it is up to the band to decide to move forward. This song is a like a forwarning to the next track Casulty accoring to mike is more harder hitting so CAN,T WAIT FOR THE ALBUM RELEASE. Cheers.

How does it not sound like LP? No different than some of the other ballads they have done but obviously with another singer. Also 4.5 min to get to the song you said you were stoked to listen too and then cut in 40 seconds later?

I have heard this sentiment from others so you are not alone. For me, it is very much LP, especially Minutes to Midnight, Hunting Party, and Living Things vibes with a little "Friendly Fire" tone. As for how good the song, I love it. The Lyrics are very story telling and nuanced. The chorus/title changes 4 times in the song alluding to 3 different emotional responses. Taken in context with the video, the very first line, "This is the letter that I, I didn't write", is brilliant. How many times have people lost loved ones or friends and regretted not saying what was on their heart? How many times have people passed on and those who are left behind wonder if there was something they could have said that they didn't? The structure of the song is also quite different from most typical song structures. The mix is done really well to put all the focus on the lyrics and Emily's vocals. There are some crazy vocal inflections throughout this song and a fairly high sustained note towards the very end. So for me, not only was it a great song, great storytelling, but also a great showcase for Emily's vocals, outside of screaming.

This song is top 5 for me on the From Zero album out of 10 tracks it has such a great sound design, her voice is insane and the build up is awesome not to mention the instruments being used :)
