The Perfec Draw tool has been worth its weight in gold to me. As someone who has easy access to cubans (which no matter what anyone says are far more prone to being plugged or tight draw) and more budget cigars it has helped me save $100s of dollars worth of cigars. Soon to be $1000s cuz Canadian taxes on tobacco are absurd. All that said, it is a superb tool that works better than advertised.

Bought one about a year ago after buying a $15 cigar that was completely plugged that I had to toss. Used it a few times since then and it's helped every time. If I can feel the plug I'll usually try to poke it, pull back slightly and then try to poke it again a couple of times at slightly different angles. Recommend it to anyone that smokes cigars frequently.

I over humidified my humidor so all of mine have been drawing tightly recently..I just used a bamboo skewer to insert an inch into the foot and its perfect. I did add a perfecdraw tool into my amazon cart anyway cause lets be honest, it looks cooler than a skewer stick. But I thought I would add that it works just as well, plus there was no tobacco tear out. If you had a wooden toothpick or bamboo bbq skewer, and dont have the perfecdraw tool yet, but you need something now -try reaching in the cupboard for a toothpick or a skewer. Anything about 1-2mm in diameter (pencil lead size or wood matchstick) is what you want.

Great video Tim. Thanks for the demo. I could’ve used this a couple times recently when my lighter’s poker attachment didn’t do the trick. I’ll definitely be picking up one of these. 😎 As a video guy, a word of advice, add some more light on the cutaway next time. That ashtray shot was a little dark comparatively. Also, not sure you needed the random dissolve at 5:10. The video is full of jump cuts already (as are most online videos these days). Cheers.

I have the Perfect Draw, and the Perfect Repair cigar repair glue. Both I’ve used a fair amount already, and figure I’ll use time and time again lol. But I will say, the first time you repair a few cigars draw with the perfect Draw tool, it’s already paid for itself. When you can save a cigar, and get your money’s worth out if it, instead of tossing it in the trash, that makes the tool worth it instantly. Perfect Repair cigar glue is the same way. We all accidentally drop cigars, or sometimes they crack while smoking, or the wrapper leaf peels up when you take the band off. All will be repaired with the Perfect Repair! My most recent repair, was with a Padrón 1964 Anniversary 45 years in Maduro. In the shop I buy from it’s a 29.95 stick! I took it out of my humidor, and looked it over before I cut the cap, and toasted it. And bam there it was a hole in the side, right below the cap line. So I knew that was gonna leak air, and smoke. So I took out my Perfect Repair glue and dabbed some in the hole, filling it in, and sealing it off. Done, nearly 30 dollar cigar repaired, and saved. That time I knew the glue paid for itself for sure, the cigar cost more than the glue.

I use a small bbq skewer to poke a tight cigar. Unfortunately, any cigar with bad wrap I just toss. I had two within a week with no draw after years of luck. One the wrap didn't meet up at all and you could see the binder. The other unwrapped on me, not a little bit, the whole thing. I do find wrap is more likely to be problematic with a bullet cutter (both of mine were guillotined).

Having that perfect draw is what I look for !! One day I was out with the family too a cook out and of course I had a few cigars with me . So I pulled out a cigar and I had an issue , I couldn’t draw so what I did was I took a nail from the garage and poked it through of the cigar , again this was the first time it ever happened to me, so I poked it with a nail relight the cigar and there it was the perfect draw It was weird that I used a nail but it worked and now that I know that people actually sell the unplug for cigars best believe I went out and bought one !! Best thing ever invented I carry it with me all time

Here's the problem I have with this PerfectDraw tool. If you do as Tim did around the 5:00 mark and poke the middle of the cigar almost all the way through it because well sometimes there's a knot in there, you're basically creating a tunnel in the center of the cigar and you just ruined the cigar. I've done that a few times... You'll be trying to draw on the cigar and no smoke will come out, only hot air because you're basically sucking as you would from a straw except it's in the center of the cigar. Don't get me wrong, Tim used the tool exactly as advertise. I'm not bashing him. The way a cigar smokes perfectly is if there are tiny spaces between the leaves in the filler and binder allowing air to pass between 'em which creates a perfect and even burn. Creating a tunnel in the center of the cigar does not help at all. Even if you only go halfway up the cigar with the tool, once you reach halfway during your smoking, you'll experience the same issue. Here's my advice: First of all, try using the tool BEFORE lighting up the cigar as the heat will render the leaves sticky and moist. Secondly, If you have a cigar that has a bit of a tight draw, use the tool to open up the nub. Do NOT go any deeper than an inch or so. Also, try not to pull too much tobacco out. Twist in, gently pull out. Poke the center (filler) but also around it. Sometimes you don't even need to insert the tool. Sometimes all you need is to use the pointy tip of it to separate individual leaves at the nub. Finally, if you have a cigar with a knot in the middle, I recommend going in the center but also around it, twisting as you go in but also as you come out so as to NOT create a tunnel but rather crush the leaves inside to open up the draw. I repeat, do NOT pull straight out as advertised. Also try not to go in too many times. One through the center (filler) and 2-3 max around it. You're welcome.

I have found using the perfect cutter with a drilling /cutting technique works best without ripping out a bunch of tobacco leaf. Use a constant drilling/cutting motion and advance the length of the cutter section only and remove. It’s important to keep the drilling/cutting in both directions. Then repeat and advance twice the length of the cutter section and remove. Continue as needed. This is like using a drill bit in wood or metal. Your are cutting the in both directions and removing a smaller amount of tobacco. This also avoids ripping out a lager pice of tobacco that might snag on the cutter. Yes in a pinch you can use a $3 1/16x 8 drill bit by hand ( not with a power tool -Tim the tool man fans) to do the small thing. The results are not as good. I love my perfect cutter. I bought mine from cigars daily. It’s paid for it self many times over. Great tool for cigar smokers.
