Never before behind the scene footage of what went into the making of "Never Hike Alone" A Friday the 13th Fan Film"
These clips were captured by the Womp Stomp Films team of Vincente DiSanti, Andrew Leighty, JD Martz, Christopher Thellas, Kyle Klein, and Jonathan Cabrera on the "No Trespassing" set located in Malibu, CA.
This alternate scene features Kyle McLeod discovering the the "No Trespassing" sign from Friday the 13th Part 2, however, unlike the theatrical version, Jason Voorhees does not appear on screen. Instead, Jason was only depicted in "point of view," aka POV, much like earlier Friday the 13th films.
JD Martz was the camera operator for this version, using is Sony F7 with some really interesting vintage lens packages. The vignetted feeling of the lenses gave off an uneasy feeling and we wanted to see what kind of effect they would have on the view without showing Jason.
As cool as this scene is on it's own, we obviously chose to reshoot a version where Jason appears. The scene has gone on to receive some criticism for the way Jason is able to appear and disappear behind Kyle. This critique always made us laugh because we knew what it looked like without. However, now it's up for you to decide!
In addition to the No trespassing scene, you will see also a winter version of the "Lake Discovery" scene that was pre-visualized in December of 2016 by Evan Butka shooting with his new Red Epic. Evan's Red went on to become the A camera for the second half of filming and this shoot was a test that was never colored.
In the end, this test sequence helped us prepare for our second round of filming in early - mid 2017 before finishing the film.
