Never Say Never Again (Weight Room Fight) - Ft. John Barry Score

If Never Say Never Again had a John Barry score and a gunbarrel, it would have been a somewhat decent unofficial James Bond film.

The change of score really lifts this scene. It really brings out Connery’s performance, which reminds me of Bond’s fight with Oddjob towards the end of Goldfinger. There’s a look of both panic and resolve on Connery’s face; gotta keep moving, buy yourself a few seconds, but think of something, anything, to defeat this seemingly unstoppable opponent.

The film was perhaps more closer to Fleming than the UA/EON films. Had a more adult theme... and the villian was finally realistic and believable... brilliant performance with a slight hint of psychotic edge.

It’s not part of EON so most things are wrong. Music, supporting actors, set design. It has Connery, and a Bond story.

It was always the bad score that hindered Never say never again. Granted M is a little too wimpy imo and there is the cringey spit kiss from Largo, but it had good action scenes and I liked that the bond villainous tried to get Bond to admit she was his best lover.
