Wow, this is a no cost for any DYI guy. Going to give this a try a the pool chemicals are outrageously high cost and the pool supply stores got you hooked before you walk in the door. Thank you for the tip. 🤠

Before you do this search copper in pool water. Its something about turning hair green. I never did it so I could be wrong
@robburton32552 ай бұрын
Ok, maybe I overdid it, but it works...at least for me. I had a horrible time with algae prior to this. I took a copper pipe, cut about 60 pieces about 1 1/4" long. I took about a 3 1/2 feet 1/4" copper tubing and slid 30 pipe pieces onto the tubing and secured the ends so they wouldn't come off. I coiled all this small enough to fit into the pump basket. I did the same thing in the skimmer basket. This was about 3 weeks ago and my pool has never been cleaner. I just keep 3" chlorine tabs in my floaty and add a gallon of chlorine ever week. Its the hottest time of year, right now. I'm going to slowly cut back on the chlorine, to find out how low I can go. I've made the same contraptions for some buddies and they put them in their pools...about a week ago. Still waiting on results. I believe the copper is supposed to kill invertebrates. Anyway, long story short, it worked for me in my 30,000 gallon pool.

I coiled up a 4' piece of copper pipe and placed in strainer basket two weeks ago. So far, results are inconclusive.

Not enough explanation, sorry. So, it's the copper that's reacting with the water? Why the pvc? Why the copper inside the pvc? Can this be used in a small pond with animal life and not be toxic?

@RussianGirlShowPanties I missed it! Ok, will give it a listen again, thanks.

Look up copper sulfate for ponds! And it's uses! Can also be used in pool!
@robertwadas3 ай бұрын
Just use crystal Copper Sulfate in Strainer. 1/4 cup in a mesh or nylon sock. We use in in our pond. Safe for everything. Also in pool, you never need any other chemicals, no chlorine.

Has anyone tried this out and did it work? Looks way too simple, yet brilliant if indeed turns out to be a solid and simple fix to eliminating algae from pools. Thanks for sharing the video Sir.

Well, I did have to use some extra copper. I had some copper elbows and butt joints available. I used about 8 extra pieces in the basket and it did solve the problem. My pool is approximately 20,000 gallons. This will work for above ground pools.

Why not just put a copper piece in strainer? Why go through all this trouble if it is copper that does the job? Would like to see follow up video on what the pool looks like now and what your copper piece looks like?

My pool is from the 60’s and it has copper plumbing. I’m fighting black algae with tons of shock, expensive. But still have large back algae blotches around the walls. So why wouldn’t the copper tubing not killing black algae?
@JHTC25 күн бұрын
Black algae is tough. You have to knock off the top with a wire brush then use this product. amzn.to/4fC367o Don't run the pump, sprinkle this to the bottom of the pool overnight. Use the whole container.

Mustard algae is different from green algae. I have black algae in my pool that I have brush off the top with a steel wire brush and shock my pool with chlorine.

In a swimming pool, copper acts as an algaecide, meaning it can kill algae, while algae is a plant-like organism that can grow in a pool if not properly treated, causing the water to appear green and murky; essentially, copper is used to combat algae growth in a pool by inhibiting its photosynthesis process.
