Wow. Just broke up with a woman after four months of dating. She did it by ghosting me which is ironic since we agreed early on we would not do that. It was disrespectful and basically a shitty move. Never have been ghosted before so I am still getting over the shock. On reflection, it is clear I was dating a dismissive avoidant and none of the needs Briana mentioned were being met. I was trying communicate them and work with her but , in the end , she just couldn't or wouldn't go there. A silver lining is I learned a lot about that attachment style, the need to be clear about needs and boundaries ( do NOT self abandon!), and the crucial part of paying attention to your instincts when red flags appear. Love the video both in terms of timeliness and content!!

If you have to beg for curiosity, interest and reciprocity in communication you're in the wrong relationship regardless how the experts may argue that. 🥴

Communication should always be a two-way street in any relationship.

@@Alignmented1 I really do see where you're coming from. Because we know what we need and what we deserve. However there's a lot of good people out there who never got taught right and are happy to learn and develop where they lack. There's great people out there who are amazing in so many worthwhile ways who deserve a bit of grace and loving guidance. We all have flaws. Not everyone deserves our grace, of course, and there's a certain level of needing to it earn that involvement from us first. And absolutely begging for it is off the table full stop. Definitely agree with that!! Learning how to reciprocate in specific and important ways can be a blessing though if the is right and deserves it and puts up with some of our weak spots. Only in that case though.

Open communication about our authentic selves is mandatory in a fulfilling relationship, as is leaving room for mistakes - that's how we learn! Great video!

This is a very good video I frankly think that from my POV avoidant males just aren’t that into you and they are not ready for a relationship bit the women feel connected and press on that’s just my experience.

It’s unbelievable how my ex and I had these things and then eventually he started pulling away and removing all of these things. I kept telling him I was lonely. I have told him all the things in this video and it still fell apart. It feels vindicating to watch and know I really did try my best to

Thank you for sharing your experience, it takes courage to open up about personal struggles. It sounds like rejection was protection in this case, and he was not your match.

All this assumes it’s an avoidant who is self aware and prepared to do the work. If not, stuff like these may work temporarily and then as soon as it happens it results in increased intimacy so they panic and run.

This one is among my favorite videos on relationship needs. I learned so much about the trap thanks to your videos. I still feel hard to handle it when a partner is disorganized and when the partner shows signs of both avoidance and anxiety. 😵‍💫 It's not like walking on eggshells, it's like tightrope walking. 😆

Hey I saw your videos on avoidant attachment and wanted to ask if you could do a video on how to spot avoidant attachment in oneself (I am a women not sure if there are so differences in gender). Additionally, how to know if I am avoidant or just not attracted (anymore)?
