A sinkhole on neversink. The irony. Great video as always! I live in Berks county too and enjoy learning more places to explore from your videos.

Nice to see my home town in your content again. Brought back memories of seeing a massive fire on the mountain back in the early 80s. If I remember correctly… I think they blamed a spark from a passing train for starting it. I remember sitting in the car with my parents watching it on the side of 422. Great content.

Thanks for showing us the damage done by the fire to our mountain. We actually live just across the road from Klapperthal Road. We’ve explored most if not all of the trails on the mountain, but haven’t been up there since the fire. We’re extremely glad the fire wasn’t worse. If you ever come back to hike the mountain again, we’d be happy to join you. My husband grew up hiking and camping on the mountain and his dad was none as the “old man of the mountain.” Thanks again for showing us the mountain since the fire.

Good episodes on this channel in recent days. As an upstate New Yorker and longtime reader of Wallace Stevens, I knew Neversink was a place, but that's about it. But now, I get a good look at the mountain and how it overlooks Reading.

I was up on my Mountainbike two days after and couldnt believe the amount of pickers looking for old glass bottles. Crazy

Wow! I never knew there were trails up there, I knew their were houses. I made a delivery to a house up there on Ganter Lane about 15 years ago, that was a total nightmare with the windy mountain road and then trying to find some place good to turn around. I remember coming back down the mountain and the back of my trailer scraping the road because of the low clearance. Im going to have to get up that way again and hike that trail, absolutely beautiful up there.

Hi Cliff im Australian so have dealt with many bushfires Fire usually run up hill not down hill in my experience Isuspect the fire near that house was started as a backburn to get it to burn back to the main blaze also the hotter the burn the ash will be almost white Once it rains itll soon start to grow back nature is very resilient

I was also a Vvolunteer Firefighter, a Captain in the department. Back in the early 90''s, we called them rush fires. I went to school at the Florida Forestryy Service for "Wildfire Arson Investigator", so it is also a legitimate term.

That's crazy. I remember that fire, right before i moved back to Pennsylvania. I was so worried because i have a few acquaintances in that area.

Didn't know you lived in Berks County. Found your channel watching videos about Potter County and the surrounding area, live in Berks now but moving up there next year. Weird coincidence.

From the view, it looks as if that was just a slow ground fire. Very benifical for the forest.

Thanks for the hike! I didn't know there were trails like that up there. I've only ever gone to the McIlvain pavilion.

That was a very interesting hike. We didn't hear much about it out here in western Pa,although I think we should have as we don't get too many in Pa. Did they ever find out how it started? Id love to smell it. Safe travels as always ❤❤❤❤

Was a crazy fire some weeks back, could smell the smoke very far away. apparently their were vagrants camping and having fires when it wasnt allowed, but local PD wasnt doing anything about it.

The fire came dangerously close to the Ganter's home and did burn two of their cars near their garage.

We hiked to the "witch's hat" last spring, that's on Neversink Mtn. Isn't it? Was that damaged in the fire? We hope not!

The fire was further northwest of that area.

Wildfire is the newer age name. I am 67 and have always called them brush fires, I have fought brush fires with my fire company, and will always call them brush fires. Not a big deal.
@adrianbara-popa99609 күн бұрын
As I understand it brush fires are a specific type of wildfire. Wildfire is the umbrella term for any uncontrolled fires.

Use caution. For dead trees especially the ones that are burned out. We try taking all dead burning trees down for safety. Yes we trails as fire breaks. We also backfire off trails.
