Enjoy your videos and information so much! If I did more production work, would definitely take your courses. Your knowledge is straight forward, pragmatic, and thoughtful.

the new soilblockers have up to 35 blocks and are for working on the floor so in just 2 moves you have a 70 block tray

That is the model I used. You are leaving out mixing soil and water, lifting the trays, moving soil from or to the ground and all the other effort involved. Soil blocking is very labor and time intensive regardless of the model. Even the automatic ones are very labor intensive and slow.

Any comments on the effects of soil compaction on seedlings in a soil block versus looser soil in a cell tray like a winstrip?

I have found that if I don’t firm the soil in the trays, they won’t hold together when I extract them. A lot of the soil falls off the rootball.

I found the blocks stay intact if I water them a few hours before extraction.
