Built my first tunnel following Curtis Stones method to bend your own chainlink fence. It been a game changer. Love your videos!

long strips of bicycle inner tubes make great "ridge pole-to-hoop" connection. They make great plastic tensioner. Tie a piece of rope onto both ends of a strip of inner tube. Tie one end off to a stake toss it over the tunnel and tie it off to another stake.

Cattle panels bent over make nice greenhouses 4 inch PVC pipe made in a square with four elbows and four pieces of 10 ft pipe. A slot in cut in the top side length wise in each pipe for the ends of each panel then they can be slid along the ground. When not in use they can be used for poultry just cover them with hardware cloth.

Using a piece of wood to protect the poles is a good idea when hitting the foundation tubes in.

Johnnys seeds has a tubing driver that will prevent deformation of the ground post tubing. You could also use a large bolt to do the same thing. Wood will work but a bit fussy.

Great video, very helpful. I love it when you say "this is tiny", it's more than half of my growing space ;-)) but in your context is obviously is tiny.

Do the open ends orient from N to S or E to W?
@PeterSedesse2 жыл бұрын
unless your land is very slopped, you always want your rows north to south
@doncook35842 жыл бұрын
Not an expert but I would orient EW so the prevailing south winds of summer are blocked from drying out the beds because rains won’t reach garden which for past 3 springs has been extremely wet so tunnel should really eliminate that headache. Good luck
@doncook35842 жыл бұрын
At 06:24 notice Conor’s shadow is cast in front of him so sun is perpendicular to beds. Means beds run EW.

Boy are those kids lucky! My dad tried to do essentially the same thing (but with shower curtains). The wind came up and he couldn’t protect us. He also could never “talk with his hands” like you do. The amount of guesswork that most people have to go through to get to your level is enough to make any man fold. I’ve been training and my brother has been training. Maybe we could do a Zoom call?

Mark the desired depth on the side tubes in advance and skip measuring them individually.
