Conor Crickmore quit his job in the city and moved to the country. There he started an organic farm from scratch and never looked back.
His farm became successful due to his simple systems. He now works to help small farms succeed. His a well known educator throughout the world in small scale market farming and has been very successful at earning a good living growing vegetables on a small plot. He farms without tillage and uses mostly hand tools.

I have found using mushroom compost mixed in with all the other ingredients you mentioned really helps my seeding beds such as carrots beats etc because of the mushroom compost water retention qualities it definitely holds a lot of water throughout the seeding process I mix it in with a lot of my potted plants also like peppers

My soil is very sandy. If you run water through the soil you end up with pure sand. Carrots cannot penetrative it. They get 2 to 3 inches then stump into odd shapes. I grow mine in a raised bed. I am adding compost to my garden beds. I've seen guys grow huge carrots in sand boxes. They have pipes in the sand. These are moved and filled with compost then a seed or two is planted. Thinned out to one carrot. Ends up being a giant carrot. If you get bored one day...😉

Nice video. Here in Norway we have problems with carrot fly damage, do you have a good advice how to combat them? And is it correct that carrots do not do well in heat stress? We tried to grow them in a greenhouse and they did not do well at all. Best regards Per and Dasha

Hi, you could try some "Carrot fly netting" to create a 1 metre high barrier around you carrot patch

I was going to start with Nantes carrots as our first vege to grow for our farmers market. All things considered in your video I’ll probably start with another veg now. If you had to pick 2 vegetables to grow without a greenhouse just starting out what would they be?
