Should've opted for a low table with a fire pit in the middle
@H1delta3 жыл бұрын
If you look at the inside, there's really no place to put it w/o ruining the symmetry of the interior. Also, it's not only a fire place but a piece of art. To relegate it to some other part of the house would be an injustice to the piece as well as the artist. To me, the house was built with function over form but I believe it met both criteria equally. If one wants to see an adulterated view of the water, one only has to get up off their butt. But to solve your concern, I would probably add a small deck that is surrounded by 3 foot glass (not flexiglass as they turn yellow after a while) walls to not obstruct the view and to prevent people from falling below and deep enough to accommodate two small tables and four chairs so one can seat, drink one's favorite beverage and enjoy the scenery. I'm aware that they will have to change the fixed windows to sliding doors. FTR, there are door manufacturers that make sliding doors unobtrusive. Some are even frameless.

Of course it is interesting to see new places that has been designed in a multifunctional way right away. But only very few people can afford them. I found those videos where old tiny apartments were redesigned more interesting and more inspiring because you could use them to redesign and improve your own apartment.

You can't actually "live" in these pods. Could a single person do it? sure. No washer/dryer, place for vacuums, dryfood, etc. It's literally half of an apartment.
@WantedKi1ler3 жыл бұрын
I would disagree on the affordable part. The main expense would be the land, not the home. There are many home building shows out there you can watch (impossible builds on hulu) that are stunning and extremely cheap that follow this exact style of building. 2 "boxes" built separately and then "push" together, probably round 30-60k. The real expense was probably going local and the fine luxury/high end items inside the house
@ViolentMLG3 жыл бұрын
@@2_Bike_is_Life I disagree. There is space for a washer dryer (it was in the video), a vacuum could easily be laid up against a wall or I'm sure you could find a creative solution in the storage space, 'dryfood', same thing. Keeping the place aesthetically clean would be the challenge. Regardless, you said you can't live in 'these pods' which I assume you're referring to pods like this? I mean, the only thing this thing is missing is maybe a large closet for storage, that's about it, but you could easily live without it if you had to. I think maybe 500SQFT would be the sweet spot with a storage space.

Idyllic! (and may even live off-island during High Season - where its cheap) that is how MANY Island folks around the world do it. They make enough in 6 months to fund their lifestyle for the year.
