When you set up each area of your fish room, how did you decide on the various sizes of tanks you used? If you were to set up a new fish room, how would you set it up? How do you make your stocking decisions for each size of tank? How many are transition tanks vs permanent homes? I would love to see these questions answered in a few videos. I just bought a 40 breeder and struggled between that and a third 75 gallon. I have a 5, two10’s, a 20 long, and two 75’s running currently. My 5 and one 10 came from fish that did not get along with others. I just bought the 40 to move some similus, juidochromis, and leleupi out of a 10. They were in a 75 briefly with breeding brichardi who started to target them. I lost two leleupi. I thought about another 75 and adding more Tanganyikans like Calvus or Compressiceps and maybe Ciprichromis but wonder if I will wind up with more aggression issues. My other 10 has a neolamprolgus buscheri that did not want to share the 75 with anyone.

I've inherited a geo, I really have no idea for tank mates. Currently have two jewelled cichlids, but surprisingly geo ate my red spotted pleco. Any suggestions for algae eaters, as she's huge and the pleco's we get from the LPS are quite tiny. Could a bristlenose deter the geo? Any help would be hugely appreciated 😁 love love love your vids, and an very jealous of your tanks. Keep up the awesome work 😁😁😁

If I wanted to put in several different species of Geophagus (thinking not set on any altifrons, brasiliensis, red head, Krobia and severums )in a 210 gal. How many of each type would be ideal?
@PrimeTimeAquatics3 жыл бұрын
One thing you may have to deal with is possible hybridization. The brasiliensis are a little bit more aggressive than the rest as well. I personally like to keep them separate, but for the most part in a 210 you may be able to do eight or so in total?
@4Shreks3 жыл бұрын
@@PrimeTimeAquatics Thanks for replying. I heard that species of Geophagus were a little bit more aggressive so I was leaning not to get them and I was thinking of 3 species at 3 a piece (for a total of 9, 2 females and 1 male ). You have a good channel very informative! Much appreciated.

That is so stunning! I have a 4ft tank 378lt. With 1 bushfish 1 snakeskin gourami 1 african knife 7 rainbowfish 5 angelfish 1 bristlenose pleco 3 ropefish 1 African butterfly 2 gymnogeophagus balazanni. Could I add more geos or not?? How big do these pearl geos get Great video well done!!!
@PrimeTimeAquatics5 жыл бұрын
If it were me I would probably hold tight on adding more. The balzanii get huge. The brasiliensis also can get to 10-12" and they tend to get more aggressive as they age. My guess is they would start beating on the other fish by the time they reach about 4-5"?
@Thomas.T85 жыл бұрын
I was thinking that too. I found a baby suranimensis that probably killed my the other one I bought so that they know eachother. Maybe its an Altifrons idk. Maybe 1 red head tapajos? If my tank was same size but No fish. Would it be possible then to add a small group? Thx so much for the speedy response!
@PrimeTimeAquatics5 жыл бұрын
Without any other fish you could add a group of Tapajos. They are great fish.

Another great video Jason! Thanks for sharing. Not to get off topic, but if I may, “How do you think the Internal Parasite” was introduced? I just want to avoid that. I think this is why I recently lossed a fish. Still scratching my head.
@PrimeTimeAquatics4 жыл бұрын
I wish I knew, but the most likely explanation is the wood or rocks. All the fish were fine in both cases before they were introduced to this tank.
@poppycortez68024 жыл бұрын
I have 3 geo Brasil and they are in a 180. They beat the crap out of each other so bad I had to separate one from the group and now the other are kicking each other’s buns. What should I do. I am about to drop them all off at the LFS and go with others. They are all about 5 inches.
@PrimeTimeAquatics4 жыл бұрын
They can get aggressive as they age. You could bring two back and keep one (they are amazing looking as they age). You could also try more structure so they all have their own place (or at least enough structure for two). I think I had a couple of advantages - 1) they grew up together, which I find tends to make them a little more tolerant, 2) they weren't quite at the battle size.
@Midraj5 жыл бұрын
Ugh.....sorry to hear about ng he loss........I have heard that they can be a sensitive species. Internal parasites happen.....but have you found this to be true? I was looking at winemilleri for my next geo tank but I wonder if it's smart to go with a different, hardier, species.

Hi Jason! I’m a fan from Brazil. My boyfriend introduced me to your channel and I’m in love. I really want to have a pleco aquarium, I saw that 20 gallon is the minimum, but I don’t have the space for it and my parents aren’t happy about the idea of having a aquarium this big. Do you know if I can have a smaller tank?
@PrimeTimeAquatics5 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching! I personally don't keep them in anything less than a 20 only because full grown bristlenose plecos can reach 5-6 inches and produce a lot of waste. You could try finding clown plecos - they only top out at around 3-4 inches and are very cool looking?
@matthewzito61305 жыл бұрын
I'm a little surprised that you moved the gold sevrums. Why not leave them where they were and just substitute the brasiliensis for the other Geophagus? Do you have a lot more of the brasiliensis?

Hey Jason Love your videos . What geophagus species can be kept together? I heard some are aggressive.
@PrimeTimeAquatics5 жыл бұрын
Generally I would want at least a 75 gallon before I started mixing them - maybe even a 6ft tank. You would also want to be careful with hybridization. Altifrons, winemilleri, tapajos, pellegrini might work in the right sized tank.
@tayson12225 жыл бұрын
@@PrimeTimeAquatics I do have 125 gallon tank . I already have 3 geo heckelli and 1 red head tapajos in a 90 gallon . I am gona move them to the 125 on sunday and planning on getting more goe. What would you recommend? How many and what female to male ratio do you recommend?
@PrimeTimeAquatics5 жыл бұрын
If you plan to breed them, ideally, I would want only one male per species and probably wouldn't do more than two different species. They get territorial once they start protecting fry. I probably wouldn't mix anything that looks similar. So maybe some tapajos and keep the heckelii? Have fun!
