The 2024 Range Rover Sport SV packs 635bhp, can hit 180mph and has trick new suspension but is this enough for it to beat the Aston DBX 707 or Porsche Cayenne Turbo with GT Package?

I think what's happened is cheap finance. If you go back to the seventies, you had to be successful (and save money) if you wanted to buy an expensive car and cars reflected that in their taste and build quality: they were assets. Think of cars like the Merc SL. Today, any halfwitted deliveroo driver with poor judgement, who lives with their mum and has a few k in the bank can drive pretty much anything they like. If anything, expensive cars now connote low status.

For me this is a motoring blind alley. I can only think they're all for affluent countries abroad, in short where they've run off to with all our money. I'm all for people enjoying their success, but these "cars" are crass, ugly and should have a carbon fibre "I'm an idiot" badge welded to the tailgate. There is nothing stylish that I can see in the design, not a hint of aspiration to own one and I don't think the ownership experience would be much fun on a day-to-day basis. It feels like the psycho RIB's that are rapidly replacing the beautiful heritage yachts down the road from here in St Mawes. Great film anyway, but looking forward to more of your wonderful road trips in your existing great stable of cars, which I really enjoyed. Cheers and all the best.

Hmmm! On reflection, your initial comments about the front splitter suggests to me, that this RR Sport isn't an all-round vehicle in off-road and wading scenarios. I believe the front splitter wouldn't last 10-minutes in an off-road trip, and it would be pushing massive bow waves when dipping its toes in water. The DBX707 would be my choice of the three vehicles. As usual, another quality review Harry🌟Send us more👍😃

lol. The only folks purchasing these vehicles (likely leasing them through their businesses so that they can get rid of them prior to the manufacturers warranty expiring), are the wealthy or the “posers - look at me” types… having had a 2012 RR Autobiography for my spouse, it was 36 months of monthly, multi day service appts… traded that in on a 2015 MB GL63 AMG and mostly had a similar experience… vehicles that use highly complex (and hence delicate/temperamental) technologies and “cool” features as selling points for their vehicles are essentially acknowledging that they know the vehicles are going to frequent visitors to their service department

Used to hate this kind of thing but now I’m, reluctantly, starting to understand the appeal. Looking forward to Harry’s update on the D300 version as we have a near identical car but are suffering from excessive wind noise above 60 mph. It’s now Back at the dealer (who’ve been very constructive in agreeing and identifying the issue) for replacement door seals which we hope will fix it. Harry mentions how quiet the cabin is which is why we chose the car in first place but I know we are not the only ones with this problem.

Would really like a video review on facelift 707. I spent some time with the pre facelift, and I just found the engine a bit boring and muted for the price/hp, both in sound and complete lack of theatre (no over run, no upshift crack), especially compared to my facelift f-pace svr. Curious if Aston have tweaked exhaust and software to make it sound more characterful, like they’ve done with new vantage and db12
